Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Robert Papp said that in 2010 Obama told U.S. military leaders to accept his push for gays in the military, and that if they didn't, they could take the "opportunity to resign [their] commissions."
Papp said these things in a video BuzzFeed obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.
The video shows a speech Papp delivered to Coast Guard Academy cadets during which he was asked how he would deal with enforcing an order with which he didn't agree. He used the story of his 2010 meeting with Obama as an example of how service members' duties can be compelling and conflicting with personal desires....

"Round up and murder US civilians, or resign"
So you would rise to the top of your profession over a 30+ year career and burn it to the ground b/c of one dickhead boss giving an order you dont like?
Sure.
They're just civilians...
I am reading a few books by Winston Churchill. He actually was much kinder to Chamberlain that I expected. He knew the man, and lived in the time. Neville was wrong, but Britain and France didn't have the forces to really stop Germany at the time. Nevile also was a true believer, and felt that delaying war was preferable to starting one before he was ready.
Again, he was wrong. Deadly wrong. But he did follow his beliefs.
I get what you are saying, don’t misunderstand me, but Barack Obama is also following his beliefs and they are far from ethical. At least in the way we generally accept the term. I suppose it is fair to say he follows his ethics, but that by definition is situational ethics. As Lincoln supposedly said, “How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg does not make it one.”
I wonder why some posters are ignoring the implications of the flip side of that record.
My opinion of Bob Papp just plummeted to zero. I know you have to be somewhat of a politician to be an admiral but does that mean you check your morals at the door? If Admiral Papp disagreed with the President, then he should have resigned on the spot. If he did agree that deviant behavior should be embraced by the Coast Guard, he never should have been Commandant at all. Years ago I got dressed down by the Commandant for tearing down posters in CG Headquarters celebrating the 1st annual Department of Transportaion gay and lesbian pride luncheon. I submitted my retirement letter rather than stay and be promoted to Captain.
Because they approve of gays in the military and don’t care what it takes to keep them there. Or at what cost.
He’s not unlike his “bruthas” in the joint that don’t give a lot of concern to which way or who and more concerned with frequency of the poke.
Going to be a lot to fix following 2016.
Noting the dems and nobama did is not reversible, there will just be so damn much of it.
and they will pitch a hissy fit over each and every fix.
to political types, the nonstop bad ink would get to be too much to risk.
which is why the left controls the press
Hell look at this thread. Some supposedly right wingers will pitch a fit over some of those fixes much less Dem/libs. They are fine with certain things as is.
There are consequences to electing a fairy like Obama, and the fagafacation of the military is one of them.
If he wrote against putting women into combat what does that indicate he is repressing?
Aliens
Because it is an introduction of the romantic element into the combat team. There is no net gain. If you were sitting at your desk within 100m of pedophiles who did their work well, would you want that legalized?
There was a story a while ago about a CG Captain who took the occasion of his retirement to lament the onset of affirmative action (aka discrimination against white males) in promotions as well as overall political correctness. I wish I had noted his name.
Illegal or outer space?
The entire JCS should have resigned. Maybe that would have gotten congress’s attention.
