By FOX NEWS - A New Jersey high school student says he was suspended from school after refusing to remove a Confederate flag on his truck.
Gregory Vied, 17, told News12 he was suspended for flying the flag on his pickup truck, which was parked in a student lot at Steinert High School in Hamilton Township.

I guess this must have occurred in southern NJ!
Wait maybe it was northern NJ!
Well, I would certainly object to it. But I wouldn’t demand he forfeit his first amendment right to be a stupid Yankee.
Or a rainbow flag.
The flag is battle flag of the Army of Northern Virgina. I can only guess based on the kid’s quotes, but it looks like — given that “rednecks” aren’t limited to the South — that he is using as a self description. You know, like how you can call your sister a name, but you beat up the kid who calls her the same name. It’s OK when you do it. Like when black people call each other nigger.
I think the kid’s family is from the South. And strange as it may sound, there’s actually a large piece of southern New Jersey that’s south of the Mason-Dixon Line (though not the area in this news story).
“New Jersey stays insane”.
Most of the state is insane. Where we live in Warren County and some other areas are quite normal. It is too bad that we have to be lumped in with the lunatic left.
No, I think the school is out of line on this one. Everyone does have the right to be stupid.
LOL, Sal. Good to hear from ‘ya!

I'm sure he is. But the casual observer might see it as reinforcing some negative stereotypes like I said. Still if he wants to fly it then he should be able to, regardless of what people think. There may be a constitutional right to be stupid but so far as I know there is no constitutional right not to be offended.
I'd consider Hamilton more central Jersey than north or south Jersey.
"Gregory Vied, 17, says he was suspended for flying the flag on his pickup truck, which was parked in the student lot at Steinert High School in Hamilton Township. "
I don't know how far the ACLU might go with this. If he parks his truck on school property, they can tell him to do whatever they want in return for permission for him to park in their lot. If he parks on a public street, he can do whatever he wants.
Considering it's New Jersey he's lucky he was just suspended and he didn't find his truck looking like this.
I see Confederate flags all over bikers and bikes all the time yet somehow, they never get ‘picketed’ or ‘protested’.
Our Rebel trike body style is the most popular and we sell more of those than any of the others.
I don’t think the flag is nearly as “offensive” as the pantywaist whiners would have us believe.
It seems to have become a more of a popular symbol of opposition to oppressive government.
Again.
:)
The first amendment doesn't say "except for people with bad taste, poor judgement, or ideas that liberals don't like."
Anyway - it is mostly uninformed yankees, liberal elites and race pimps who consider "redneck" to be a prejorative term.
Hey CC!
:)
If “Rap” is a “culture”, so is “redneck”.
:)
Wonder which Confederate Flag they were referring to?
The one that has ‘redneck’ written on it. There’s a picture of it with the story.
******************************************
The “redneck’ word on the CSA battle flag was most likely done by someone other than the student who had it on his auto.
The War of Northern Agression was begun for economic reasons. Slavery was just used as an excuse to stir people to war.
The Northern States were into mfg., but they were producing goods already made in Europe so didn’t have a market for exporting.
The Southern States were into tobacco, hemp, cotton, etc., and had lucrative contracts with foreign countries so the South was becoming much more wealthy than the North.
Remember that abolition ONLY denied slavery in the South, While slave owners in the North (many of whom were black) could keep their slaves.
whatever happened to mutual respect
it used to be that the union at least had some respect for the confederacy
Pretty Girl!
Happy B-Day (tell Mom to give you a steak)
I miss My Fat’s Domino:(
Seven is a beautiful puppy! If she’s like others of her breed I’ve met she’s probably quite affectionate with those she feels comfortable with. Hope you’re doing well.
