I've read that it is catchable in an airborne manner, although not easily. There's a good explanation in Wikipedia (I know, can't always trust it, but the info is there):
"Transmission through oral exposure and through conjunctiva exposure is likely and has been confirmed in non-human primates. Filoviruses are not naturally transmitted by aerosol. They are, however, highly infectious as breathable 0.8–1.2 micrometre droplets in laboratory conditions; because of this potential route of infection, these viruses have been classified as Category A biological weapons."
You are absolutely correct. A Ft. Detrick team deployed quietly to assess and burn the dead animals at the Reston quarantine facility. The CDC and HWO have classified three strains of Ebola; Ebola Marburg (Germany), Ebola Reston (Va, only airborne strain), and Ebola Zaire (most commonly seen). A good book on the subject is “The Hot Zone” for anyone interested in the subject.

I remember the movie “28 Days Later” and it all started because a bunch of animal rights crazies broke in and decided to liberate the apes. Morons didn’t realize that the monkeys were infected with something.
That was an awesome book and would make a fabulous movie. It has all the elements for a thriller.

Well, thankfully (being the eternal optimist that I am) we are equipped to actually deal with this. In the past we didn’t know how to do a thousandth of the things we can do now.

It would be funny to know that Obama is pissing himself over having to figure out how to keep the country calm if this ever did break out in the US.
It totally freaked me out how realistic it is and how realistically the US government would react and how people in the stricken community might react.

There is a research “farm” near me that has lab mice.
About once a day the animal rights nuts try to get in the building.
They’ve climbed the fence, driven through the gate, tried to cut power, pretended to be reporters, you name it they’ve tried it.
Thankfully they haven’t gotten to anything too distressing.
But still, they are “plug dumb”.
Granddaughter made me watch that with her TWICE years ago.
