It's the type of safety alert that makes you chuckle and say, "Seriously, they need to be reminded of this?"
Apparently, the National Transportation Safety Board thinks pilots do need to be reminded their job is to make it to the proper destination.
So the NTSB has issued a safety alert warning pilots not to land at the wrong airport.

Happens often here in NY near Stewart Int’l.
Aircraft line up to land on my jobsite.
Waiting for the day someone doesn’t figure out that those are light poles they are looking at.
They also line up on Orange County Airport just around the corner.
I wonder if Obama is going to draw another line for this too ?
Any student Naval aviator who did this in flight school would have been washed out that day. In the fleet it would have resulted in a Field Flight Performance Board with the aviator losing his wings.
Back when I worked for the Chicago Transit Authority, we used to tell our Rail Supervisors to instruct their motormen not to run into the train in front of them.
Looks like we should have told them to instruct them about bumping posts and escalators, too.
Ouch.
