Republican House Speaker John Boehner will spend next weekend at a Ritz Carlton event hosted by an anti-tea party group devoted to fighting conservatives within the GOP.
Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor will be among 28 House members attending a $5,000-a-head event hosted by The Republican Main Street Partnerships advocacy group, Red State reported. Donations will reportedly go to the anti-tea party super PAC Defending Main Street, which by February had received most of its funding from labor unions.
The event will be hosted at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island in Nassau County, Florida.
The Republican Main Street Partnership and its affiliated Main Street Advocacy group are headed by former Rep. Steve LaTourette, who has committed himself to raising money and running ads to defend centrist congressional Republican candidates from tea party primary challengers.
They have decided to systemically go against center-right Republicans in primary elections, LaTourette previously told The Daily Caller, referring to his tea party rivals. LaTourette said that tea partiers are happy to call him a RINO but that that they go apoplectic when the RINO gets a gun and fires back.
Heres the deal: we didnt start this fight, LaTourette said, but Im going to finish it.
LaTourettes efforts challenge those of conservative House members like Rep. Louie Gohmert, who recently launched his GOH Conservative PAC to fight back against establishment Republican fundraising efforts.
Gohmert criticized Boehner Thursday after the Speaker rushed a seemingly doomed bill to extend Medicare reimbursements through the House with a voice vote while many members were still in their offices instead of on the House floor. Gohmert said you need to be able to trust your own leadership.

Wow I called Cantor’s and Boehner’s office to complain.
Cantor’s person that answered the phone was argumentative and wouldn’t let me get a word in edgewise!
He also said “just because he’s attending doesn’t mean he’s leading it.” I said “that is not the point! You don’t attend things you don’t believe in! Would you attend a Nazi party meeting whether or NOT you believed in it?” He told me that HIS beliefs and what he would attend are not any of my business so I explained it was AN EXAMPLE only and that by attending this event Cantor is admitting he believes in their goals.
He hung up on me after telling me that this is MY interpretation and has nothing to do with Eric Cantor’s beliefs or what he attends. WOW
I heard he backed out.
Wow!! They get quite touchy don’t they?? Good for you for calling!! Let them feel the heat for their treachery! LaTourette is a snake!
“I heard he backed out.”
I just looked it up. Stories from two days ago say he’s not going. Stories from today say he is. Don’t know which is true.
I have never experienced that when calling a Congress person’s office. I think you are right, very touchy issue for them.
The only reason that Ryan is not on the list is he still holds national elective aspirations.
Otherwise, he would be there.
The Republicans are very intense on the campaign trail, when they are fighting conservatives. Then they roll over to the media and hunker down. They are a great minority Party.
Scum-sucking belly crawlers who haven’t a clue what their puppet
masters will do to them should they succeed in destroying America?
If someone betrays his country and its people the way the slime in DC
are betraying us, the new boss will execute them for the traitors that
they are. Who the hell wants a gaggle of traitors running things?
That’s easy. Every “Conservative” you see on these threads demanding we elect more ‘lesser evils’. THIS is what that mindset gets us. And it ain’t ‘lesser’ evil.
Who is it trying to tank the TEA party types? Lesser evils. Who is it trying to assist Obama in immigration and Obamacare? Lesser evils. Who is it screwing the military?
Lesser evils.
Thanks for the list. Copied and saved. I’m sorry to see our somewhat local Peter King is on it. Conservative Society for Action (Long Island tea party) should get on his case.
We are at a crossroads... The reality is we will NOT unseat guys like Boehner & Cantor in the primary because they control the machine on the ground...
They have to be defeated! If this means voting for a Dem and having one in the district for 2 years, so be it... The Tea Party is made up of conservatives from the entire political spectrum including old Democrats (not the new, communist ones!)... Why haven’t some of them run in the Dem primary?
Well...Well...
The true plumage comes out...
Ohio...Once again, I insist you start paying attention...there has got to be an alternative to this bonehead...Err, Boehner...
Well, we used to have a “Hammer”...
Donate to Tea Party candidates as individuals. That way, this time, you may actually have someone to vote FOR.
That’s why we in NE Ohio used to call him La Toilette.
Remember when Boehner tried to embrace the Tea Party by giving a speech at one of the rallies? And then, he blew it by mixing up the Declaration of Independence with the U.S. Constitution?

Yeah, that was awesome!
Cheers
Gentlemen Losers; One and all, like their pal John McCain,
so graceful, magnanimous and comfortable in the position of defeat.
Same chain, different location. The dinner is on Amelia Island, Florida.
Shouldn't that be, "Defending Park Avenue"? Or, in Texas, "Defending Mockingbird Lane"?
Old Money spending the proceeds of old felonies, to defend their henchmen-in-office against The People of the United States and their outrage.
Nice.
Could this guy be more transparent and/or even more stupid?
