Earth to purists: Give me an imperfect Republican over a 'perfect' Democrat any day
Best Of Cain ^ | March 23, 2014 | Herman Cain

Then maybe we can at least solve some problems.

Last week a caller to my radio show opined about the problems of this Democrat administration and this Congress. The list of complaints was extensive. He touched on foggy foreign policy, a sluggish economy, joblessness, waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars, environmental extremism, lack of leadership . . . and the list goes on.

He then, and rightly so, threw the Republicans under the bus, pointing out that they did not boldly solve things when they were in control of the White House and Congress. I acknowledged that he was correct in his criticism, but that I would rather have an "imperfect Republican" in control of the federal government than a "perfect Democrat".

Our nation is suffering from liberal, inconsistent policies and crony governance like we have not seen for decades, due to a White House and Democrat-controlled Senate gone wild. Lies, deception, corruption and denial in government are at an all-time high.

Imperfect Republicans are simply not nearly as arrogant or blatantly oblivious to the will of the working class. And in fact, they have a better historical record of at least a moderate level of leadership or better, even in a politically partisan climate.

Some people want to make an ideological statement by not supporting or voting for either Democrats or Republicans. I hope they are feeling good about themselves while these "perfect Democrats" continue to impose destructive policies, such as ObamaCare, on businesses and the citizens of this country.

Still others are single-issue voters, or at least they use that as an excuse. Earth to single-issue voters! We have more than a single issue driving this nation in the wrong direction. Agreeing with a candidate 10 out of 10 times would require a miracle. How about six out of 10 times so we can solve some problems!

I personally experienced this years ago when I ran for the U.S. Senate in Georgia. A certain financially well-to-do Democrat had encouraged me for years to run for public office. When I finally did run in 2004, she would not support me because I was "pro-life" and she was "pro-choice". She refused to support me on the other nine issues we agreed on.

I am not saying that Republicans are all that and a bag of chips. They are not. But at least Republicans don't sell you an empty bag of chips, and then tell you they did you a favor while they control all the chips. That's what perfect Democrats do.

If the Founding Fathers knew what we know today, they probably would have included a balanced budget amendment and term limits in the Constitution, and precluded the possibility of the Sixteenth Amendment, which allows the Congress to tax our income.

Perfect Democrats would never consider those changes to the Constitution. They love power and control over the people too much. But at least we have a chance with imperfect Republicans. They would at least leave some of the chips in the bag.

That's why we continue to fight.

...we have a bunch her who want “perfect” republicans instead of winning the Senate.

Wrong. The only thing we have here are a bunch who accuse others of wanting "perfect" Republicans.

Show me ONE PERSON who is demanding a "perfect" candidate.

I can show you a whole bunch of people accusing others of demanding perfection. Yet not a single one of them can find one solitary soul who demands perfection.

The vast UMBRELLA group that calls itself DEMOCRAT will vot for a person if he(she) pings just ONE of their sacred cows.

The Republican group will NOT vote for a person that has GORED one of their sacred cows.

I do not believe he would have continued to damage America on the world scene as Obama has.

Possibly true.

But...

I DO believe he would have damaged America souls on the ETERNAL scene.

We HAVE BEEN trying it your way for decades now!

We've killed off 55,000,000 future Americans in that amount of time.

And we WONDER why our country is screwed up???

“I DO believe he would have damaged America souls on the ETERNAL scene.”

Our souls are inside and not endangered except by our own actions. But destroying our economy, (further destroying) competiveness and our relationships with virtually every ally and emboldening every enemy risks our physical lives. Putting communist ideologues in every office is more damaging than Obamacare or Romneycare. Creating a nuclear power in Iran will eventually cause millions of deaths. I’m much more concerned about that. My soul is invulnerable.

You have got to stop this stalking and trying to drag me into threads that I’m not on, to carry your arguments from thread to thread.

Trying?

Looks like he did!

In business I’ve seen horrible candidates politic for and get high status jobs they were unsuited for.

I suspect that the Peter Principle works in politics as well.

Peace, Kaslin,

I don't claim to be a "perfect" Democrat, but I'm a much better choice than the RINO I'm running against. I won't vote to lift the debt ceiling nor to allow continued spying on American citizens without a warrent, as My opponent did. The future of the country is what is important not the letter behind your name.

On what issues WILL you side with the Democrats?

Our souls are inside and not endangered except by our own actions.

Gen. Blather, it is a FACT that Romney has consistently advocated and advanced contact between homosexuals and children, from his days as Massachusetts governor and his support of Gay Youth Pride "outreach" to middle-schoolers, to shortly before Nov 2012 when he stated that he believed two homosexuals who, I quote, "love each other" should be able to adopt children. That MEANS that Romney believes it is government's job to PUNISH adoption agencies that tell prospective homosexual "parents" to take a hike.

It is a FACT that Romney stated with crystal clarity that he believes that a minor girl who is pregnant, and whose parents refuse to give their consent for her to have an abortion, has a right to go to a judge and have that judge overrule her parents.

Jesus had very harsh words for those who would "lead little ones astray." WHAT WOULD YOU CALL ROMNEY?

When good Christians take action and vote FOR an agent of that kind of child-focused depravity, how does that action not endanger their souls, let alone the soul of America?

“I DO believe he would have damaged America souls on the ETERNAL scene. “

Obama’s “safe school’s” czar is a self admitted pedophile. There were no good candidates. I had to think about which one might prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear blackmailer. Which one might give us the lowest casualty numbers in Afghanistan? Which one was more likely to prevent the collapse of the few “friendly” regimes in the middle east? Which one would do the least damage to our allies? Yes, I held my nose and took the least bad choice. I took the choice I thought would give the best outcome four or eight years later. A Mitt Romney might have given us a decent VP who might have reversed some of the damage.

You have to play the cards as they’re dealt. You can’t throw them away and announce you’re not playing without losing everything.

Obama’s “safe school’s” czar is a self admitted pedophile.

We are not talking about Obama or his school czar. No one is asking or expecting you or me to vote for Obama or his pedophile school czar.

We're talking about voting FOR an agent who advocates contact between children and homosexuals. You are asking me to vote FOR that.

To make matters worse, you pretend that voting FOR that is somehow voting "against" a pedophile school czar. Where is the devil in all of this, Gen. Blather? Is the devil the thing in your brain that is rationalizing that it's okay to vote for depravity in the name of voting "against" it?

And when I refuse, when I make the obvious point that voting FOR that endangers souls, you accuse me of being a "purist."

Just wow.

Only Christ was perfection.

Reagan made many mistakes and is still a great Conservative.

Calling for perfection of a GOPer or TPer is a great tactic of the DNC

And it works very, very, very, verty, well.

You have to play the cards as they’re dealt. You can’t throw them away and announce you’re not playing without losing everything.

You have established your own imaginary limits and insist that they're not imaginary. You have your blinders and your tie-downs firmly in place. You allow yourself to see a small fraction of the options that surround you.

There are many different ways we can "play" the cards that are dealt with. And voting FOR evil IS LOSING EVERYTHING. Every single vote can serve as a weakener of the evil you want me to vote for; when I put my vote somewhere other than one of the two Uniparty candidates, you define it as "not playing." Because you are seeing only a small part of the picture and you are seeing it with anger and emotion.

If the approach you advocate here wasn't dead wrong, we wouldn't be in the trouble we're in now, because a vast number of us have been approaching "playing the cards we're dealt" exactly as you counsel for DECADES, and the nightmare is only getting worse. One by one, we are waking up and seeing through the illusion that still defines your perspective.

You, my FRiend, have been frightened and bullied and deceived into denial.

Time to wake up and see the big picture.
