The Washington Post has fallen and it can't get up
American Thinker ^ | 03/23/2013 | Thomas Lifson

Jeff Bezos, the multi-billionaire (via Amazon.com) new owner of the Washington Post has got a messy situation on his hands, and unless he steps in, it appears that his new property is in danger of losing the prestige that was its primary asset. After a false hit piece on the Koch Brothers claiming they were the largest holder of Canadian oil sands land rights was devastatingly debunked by John Hinderaker of Powerline (see also: Washington Post busted!), the authors of the incorrect article responded conceding nothing, not apologizing or retracting their falsehoods, but only made their situation worse. As Jonah Goldberg noted:

… they do a good case of laying out (some of) the reasons why they never should have written the piece in the first place. But then they close by claiming they were justified because the outrage their shoddy attack provoked proves the relevance of the Kochs.
John Hayward at Breitbart was even more direct, noting that the very first statement (“First, regarding the political leaning of the group that brought this story to our attention, our article makes clear its left-wing origins, the controversial nature of its earlier claims, and its political agenda.”) in the follow-up was a “lie”:

Go to the original Washington Post story and search for the words "liberal," "left," or even "progressive."  You will not find them.  Nowhere is the group that supplied the Post with its bogus report described as anything other than "activist."

The dispute has now broken out beyond the confines of the conservative blogosphere. Brit Hume, a widely esteemed figure in the Beltway power structure, tweeted:

And Jonathon Adler of the Wapo’s new conservative blog also took issue:

My husband fell about a month ago and couldn't get up, even with my help. I called our next door neighbor at 4am and he was here in 5 minutes and got him up.

That is a GOOD neighbor, rite there. :)

Conservative groups are always labeled “right-wing” or “ultra-conservative” “lobbyists”. Left-wing groups are “activists”, “public interest organizations” or “watchdogs”.

With Leftist/Liberals, ideology trumps in all circumstances. They’ll tell the truth if it supports their positions, but they’ll also lie, conceal, misdirect, falsify and ignore when the truth is inimical to their positions, or if the truth will damage the reputation and/or ability of another Leftist/Liberal to further their ideology.

Were this not true, a sizable majority of all Leftist politicians in power now would have never been elected in the first place. There is no way that Obama, Reid, Pelosi, could stand serious scrutiny by dedicated, competent, and relentless reporters backed by a true nationwide impartial media. Fortunately for them, we don’t have one.

Shouldn’t they be expected to carry out the agenda of the new owner? Seems like the reporters know what the new boss wants.

“My husband fell about a month ago and couldn’t get up, even with my help. I called our next door neighbor at 4am and he was here in 5 minutes and got him up.”

A big strong man lived next door but he wasn’t home and a little old lady lives on the other side so that was not an option. There just wasn’t another way to get him up.

Glad you had a neighbor you knew and he responded. I know you felt a lot of gratitude toward the neighbor and I was so glad to see the EMTs get there and be so kind. You really feel helpless when he is on the floor and you don’t have enough strength to get him up. I am 5’5” and have small bones so my frame is small and I just don’t have the strength of a man. A gallon of milk is heavy for me to lift. :o)

“Is it better for the Compost to go belly up, or to die a slow, painful death, steadily hemorrhaging Bezos’ money?

No one said this decision would be easy.”
******************************************************************

How about both. The Compost goes belly up but still barely holds on as its extremities suffer gangrene. Bezos has to infuse massive quantities of money to hold off imminent death but the rotting of the Compost’s tissues continues. Bezos has his operatives conduct amputation after amputation but the rot and decay still spreads. Finally Bezos, having bled much of his fortune, gives up after seeing the rot has spread throughout the Compost’s body and payroll can no longer be met. The Washington Post is finally left to its inevitable death.

The Bankruptcy Court later sells the name and much of the remaining physical plant to the Koch brothers.

President Ted Cruz is invited to cut the ribbon as the Washington Post restarts under new ownership and new staff.

This is true. My brother-in-law was just a few years ago a member of the White House Press Corp. It’s all about access.

But you know what? That’s where real investigative journalism comes in. Woodward and Bernstein went house to house, door to door, phone call after phone call to follow a trail of clues and facts.

But today reporters catch a plane, talk to one or two sources and write the story on the return flight. There’s not much budget for in-depth investigation. Most reporting is garbage because the access is biased to begin with.

Our son lives about 5 miles away and I could have called him but the neighbor was closer.

I told my son that he owed Ian (the neighbor) a bottle of wine. “why do I own Ian a bottle of wine?”????? he asks.

“Because you were number 2 on my call list, that’s why!”

““Because you were number 2 on my call list, that’s why!””

I’m sure your son gut the message when you told him that. I’m sure you are a great wife and mother.

“Oh, my, what a wonderful attitude. Hugs to you.”

I had to make the time he had normal and pleasant and with some fun things or it would have been too much to bear for him and me. I did whatever was necessary to make his life worthwhile so I would know I did everything that could be done for him. You just have to face the situation and then deal with it the best way possible.

Now that the Christie scandal has cooled, the left needs another target for the Nov elections... thus the Koch Brothers.

It's pathetic.

I had a brother who was taking Zocor. His leg muscles became so weak that I had to grab his belt at his back and help him up his front steps into his house.

When he discontinued the drug, he recovered a lot of his strength.
