Junk Science: Climate change "deniers," as global warm-mongers call those who think empirical evidence is more reliable than computer models, may soon count among their number a 50,000-strong body of physicists.
At the risk of being accused of embracing what alarmists call the flat-earth view of climate change, the American Physical Society has appointed a balanced, six-person committee to review its stance on so-called climate change that includes three distinguished skeptics: Judith Curry, John Christy and Richard Lindzen. Their credentials are impressive.
Christy is director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama, Huntsville, and was a lead author of the 2001 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Curry is a professor and chairwoman of the School of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Lindzen, an Alfred P. Sloan professor of meteorology at MIT from 1983 to 2013, is currently a distinguished senior fellow in the Center for the Study of Science at the Cato Institute.

Not sure I trust these “highly credentialed” persons any more than any other contemporary “academicians.”
It simp0ly isn’t going to be possible to find “experts” today that haven’t spent the entirety of their learning lives steeping in the “educational” soup of Marxist indoctrination.
Unfortunately, the cash - grants and subsidies - is all in the junk sience community, so the money-chasers are all willingly co-opted and compromised.
Wow what a strange coincidence.
How could 102 climate models all be so wrong? It’s almost like the programmers meant for it to happen.
But that couldn’t happen.
All of those scientist are well, scientist that care about the climate, and truth, and they mean well! They CARE!

One thing to remember about science is that experiments must be repeatable. With respect to models, every succeeding model that fails to concur with preceding models either invalidates all the previous models or is itself invalid.
So will this distinguished panel engage in REAL science and ensure:
1. Where are the scientific equipment calibration certification documents for each and every sensor used to derive said numbers over the time span of the collection sampling?
2. Are all the calibration certifications verifiable and not possible to be altered by any source once the certifications are sealed?
3. For the data from these calibrated sensors, demonstrate the chain of custody that is unalterable from the sensor, its time and date, to the output final documents (charts, graphs, tables). The data must be verifiable as unchanged, accurate and true by any and all that investigate the data. This includes surprise inspections.
If workers are required to work under these condition inside a nuke plant (and they are) why should data that supposedly affects the entire Earth in one way or another not be held to the same scrutiny?
I hope it sinks just as fast as the Titanic did!
This seems strange since the APS has been pushing the idea of global warming for years. I guess they’ve had some heads-ups from physicists who think it’s the bunk and maybe even cancelled their memberships, so now they’re going to take a stab at being evenhanded and consider the facts. We’ll wait and see if it comes to anything ... objective and rational.

You’ve described my exact issues with the whole scam. The devil is in the data. And zealots are in charge of the collection, maintenance and distribution of the data.
The article got it wrong directly out of the gate, because Judith Curry is one of the Global Warming or Climate Change Alarmists rather than a Skeptic. She was one of the proponents of the false claim that Global Warming or Climate Change was causing more frequent hurricanes. Hurricanes have now reached a thrity year low in frequency despite the false claims of there being the greatest Global Warming in human history.

Lindzen and Curry have been rocks in defending scientific rationality in this whole “climate change” fracas, and they’ve taken plenty of verbal arrows for their efforts. Fortunately, they are so well-established in their fields that they haven’t been affected that much, and they have enough self-confidence that they haven’t shown any evidence of being intimidated.
As an example, here’s Lindzen’s opinion of the activities of the global warming alarmists, as given on the Larry King show: “I think it’s mainly just like little kids locking themselves in dark closets to see how much they can scare each other and themselves.”
This is really good news, because it puts the lie to the assertion that “the science is settled”. Well, according to the American Physical Society, one of the most prestigious of the scientific organizations, it certainly is not, or they wouldn’t be doing this.

There never WAS consensus! The “science” behind climate change is nothing more than made up JUNK SCIENCE!! First they claimed “global warming” and now with one of the coldest winters on record just past, the same Junk Scientists are rebranding it “climate change.” Any way you spin it, it’s still JUNK SCIENCE created from whole cloth by JUNK SCIENTIST LIARS.

I’ve debated with Judith Curry since before she started her blog. She invited Steve McIntyre to participate in a university meeting with students to “bridge” the gap between the Skeptics represented by Steve McIntyre and the Alarmists among whom she included herself as a more neutral or lukewarm representative. Then she spoiled her self representation as a more neutral observer by going on the Weather Channel and adding much fuel to the fire against Skeptics with her adamant insistence hurricane frequency and intenstiy was being increased by Global Warming. I inadvertently saw the Weather Channel broadcast of her comments because I was eating breakfast at a hotel where they had the Weather Channel on at the time.
Make no mistake about it, Judith Curry is very much an Alarmist who is taking criticism from other Alarmists, because she has the temerity to question some of the more extreme or egregious misconduct of fellow Alarmists.
