If former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is going to run for president in 2016, his campaign is going to have to run through the Forza coffee shop in Parkland, Wash. Thats where one of Huckabees many parolees, Maurice Clemmons, assassinated four Lakewood police officers in 2009, depriving nine children of a parent and setting a national perception that Huckabee abused his powers of clemency.
Huckabee told The New York Times Jonathan Martin (the other Jonathan Martin) that he views a 2016 presidential bid as a real opportunity for me. The Washington Post quickly called Huckabee a long shot because he is a disinterested fundraiser who has credibility problems with the GOPs fiscal conservatives.
Hes had those problems for a while, but still came in first in the Iowa caucuses in 2008. But back then he didnt have a Maurice Clemmons problem.

My dog is more politically viable than Hucksterbee.
Yeah no more of this RINO-circus of 2008. What was it again... Rudy McRomneyBee??? Enough already of these limp wristed RINOs.
Huckster is not trusted by the right and center, and hated by the left. What could go wrong?
His “opportunity” is to last long enough to raise money, and not spend the money on the campaign except to hire family and friends at outrageous salaries.
don’t like Huckleberry but had forgotten his pardons while in the governors house. thanks..
And don’t forget write another book.
If Huckabee jumps in, it’ll be strictly as a spoiler role to siphon votes away from conservatives.
Huckster exists to get dupes who for a preacher-in-chief, so a RINO can get the nomination. He’ll fill his role again.
Huckabee wrote terrible letters making fun of the prosecutor that told Huckabee that this guy would kill again. Complete arrogance and stupidity worthy of Obama.
Those letters should be Exhibits 1 in attack adds before the Huckster gets off the ground again.
+1. Same with Santorum.
Huckster and Santorum exist to trick good-meaning, but stupid, Christians.
You’re right of course, but that won’t matter to the chattering class who need something to speculate about for the next year. It will be good for Huck’s TV ratings.
Amen
I could never see what folks saw, or see, in the Huckster
Mike Shmuckleberry’s biggest problem is that he is an unelectable douchebag, which counts as a blessing for everyone else.
Yeah, I forgot too. I remember most his lust for taxes.
This article is silly. Huckabee is done. A big spending, nanny-state Republican is radioactive in this environment. And he has porked back up so he isn’t serious about running. If he was, he’d be losing weight again.
Unfortunately, evangelicals love Huckabee.
Huckabee is very popular with the Pat Robertson wing of the party - now often thought of as the Huckabee wing. His support is very strong among voters for whom religion and social conservatism are the primary issues. Many of these voters aren't actually conservative on anything other than the traditional values positions. Many, perhaps most, of these voters have no real problem with big government - as long as it dealing with the problems they consider most important (banning porn, etc). There aren't many of these types on FR because they aren't necessarily politically active or loud, but there are lots of them out there. Once upon a time their solid values represented a silent majority, now not so much. The problem is many are not real conservatives, they just have different priorities for government and someone like Huckabee can get a lot of these people out to vote. It's why no matter who the ultimate nominee is, and it won't be Mike Huckabee, they will be asking Huckabee to support and help campaign for them. Trying to get these voters out for the GOP is a goal every election cycle, but it is very difficult since they really are very much only willing to come out and vote for someone who they feel has very traditional, Christian values and will make that a focus of an administration should they win.

Meh, I don't like Huckabee at all, but there is no evidence that he is taking marching orders from some nefarious group trying to select our nominee. That's just conspiracy stuff.
If Huckabee runs he either thinks he can win, or thinks it will give him a bigger platform on TV, radio, or whatever in the future. Huckabee appeals mostly to a specific group of social conservatives who care almost only about traditional values issues, but he is a folksy guy and has just enough cross over appeal to possibly survive longer than we think in the primaries. Besides if Santorum also enters the race, and I suspect he will try again, they split that voter block and cancel one another out.
