March 19, 2014, 03:43 pm Kerry phones Netanyahu to complain about insults
By Rebecca Shabad
Secretary of State John Kerry called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Wednesday morning to protest insults the Israeli defense minister directed at the Obama administration this week, the State Department said.
In a speech at Tel Aviv University on Monday, Moshe Yaalon criticized President Obama for having a weak foreign policy, and said Israel could no longer rely on the U.S. to lead nuclear negotiations with Iran.
Secretary Kerry spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu this morning. And he protested to him his concerns about these comments, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters Wednesday.
The United States, Psaki reaffirmed, maintains an unshakeable commitment to Israels security.
So it is certainly confusing to us why Defense Minister Ya'alon would continue his pattern of making comments that don't accurately represent the scope of our close partnership on a range of security issues and on the enduring partnership between the United States and Israel, she said.
On Monday, Yaalon slammed the Obama administration for the slow progress on nuclear talks with Iran. It was not the first time he has been critical of the U.S.
If we wished others would do the work for us, it wouldn't be done soon, and therefore in this matter, we have to behave as if we can only rely on ourselves," he said.
Americas power in the world is becoming increasingly diminished, Yaalon argued.
Weakness certainly does not pay in the world," he said. "No one can replace the U.S. as the world's policeman. I hope the U.S. will come to its senses.
Yaalons comments were not constructive and inconsistent, said Psaki, who added they dont reflect the government of Israel.
While Psaki declined to describe the conversation between Kerry and Netanyahu, she said Kerry has a tough skin and is happy to move on beyond this.
Asked if the U.S. would like an apology, she said, We're ready to move forward and keep talking about the peace process.
Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports Yaalon plans to clarify his remarks during upcoming meetings with senior U.S. officials.
He is a bolt necked stooge!
I sincerely hope somebody, maybe an Israeli, straightens Kerry out. Let his inner lost, be found.
And Kerry can’t find the time to call Moscow. I wonder why.
He probably did. Notice Kerry’s spokesperson is rather vague.
TEL AVIV In recent weeks, representatives for the Obama administration have held meetings with a senior politician here in which the U.S. delegates brought up the possibility of replacing Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister, according to an informed Jerusalem diplomatic source.
They're beating the snot out of him
Please tell me this is a joke and that the Executive Branch of the United States of America really isn't this shallow and insecure.
Well, whaddya know...
...Kerry wears a pantsuit, too.
Secretary Cupcake.
Dear Mr. I Served In Vietnam: I will take his place. You are a piece of scum. You hate Israel. You hate America. You even probably hate yourself. Next flight, go to Peru and somewhere, and just STAY there.
That was facelift part 1.
