Romney: Obama failed to act on Russia "when action was possible, and needed"
The Washington Times ^ | March 18, 2014 | David Sherfinski

Former Massachusetts Gov. and 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney penned a scathing critique of President Obama’s foreign policy in the pages of the Wall Street Journal Tuesday, saying the administration has failed to seize the moment took to intervene in crises around the globe, most recently in Russia and Ukraine.

“That was the time to talk with our global allies about punishments and sanctions, to secure their solidarity, and to communicate these to the Russian president. These steps, plus assurances that we would not exclude Russia from its base in Sevastopol or threaten its influence in Kiev, might have dissuaded him from invasion,”

I don’t think Russia will take the rest of the Ukraine.

Russia wants a warm weather port. They seem to have control of one now.

Ethnic Ukrainians love Russia like Jews love Germany. If Russia occupies the Ukraine, they will experience another Afghanistan. And the Russian military of 2014 is nowhere near is powerful as it was in 1980.

I believe their threats to occupy the rest of the Ukraine is simply a leverage point in any future negotiations over Crimea.

Actually, Romney's all wet on this. Obama did act. According to a lot of articles I've read, Obama's CIA was very involved--with the uprising in Ukraine. But worse than that, Obama has acted from his first day in office to degrade our military and weaken our economy and nation.

Obama's actions set up the bomb, so to speak, for Putin.

Obama lost this one and a lot more for America the day he was elected.

Obama is the one they've been waiting for.

Obama, Romney, et al, just don't get it: Peace through superior firepower!!

Our strategy: We win, they lose. - Ronald Reagan

As I understand it, the coup in the Ukraine went forward with US backing and complicity.

Obama wasn’t dealing this time with Kaddafi or Mubarak, with Egypt or Libya.

You say you want a revolution. Well you know, we all want to change the world. Well, you know, it’s gonna take a fight.

Got to send in the carriers, can’t do it with clowns.

Apologies to the Beetles.

And I’m not calling for military action. The carriers would’ve been to keep the peace from the very start.

Romney 2014: Obama failed to act on Russia “when action was possible, and needed”

Palin 2008: Putin, having been motivated by Obama’s lack of response to the Russian invasion of Georgia, would proceed to invade Ukraine if then-Senator Obama was elected to the presidency.

McRomney’s a little late to the party.

Do you think Ted Cruz would have levied sanctions on 11 of Putin’s underlings as a “severe” punishment like Hussein Obama has done?

What do you think Cruz’s communication to Putin would have been? The possible choice of his words to Putin boggles the mind. Cruz would be the next Ronald Reagan with the advantage of knowing how to defend every bit of law in the constitution due to his vast knowledge of law that put this country together. Reagan had lawyers advising him but Cruz has lived it in defending Texas in the Supreme Court against criminal Holder several times and other cases for Texas in the Supreme Court.

My God, we need Cruz to save this country from total destruction.

What do you think Cruz’s communication to Putin would have been?

There would've been no need for communication by either Cruz or, e.g., George W. Bush.

Simply stated: Putin wouldn't have attempted his Crimean land grab if either Cruz or Bush had been President. In the first place, he would there would a.) be retaliation and b.) it would be serious.

In the second place, Bush and Cruz would've immediately recognized that Russia had a legitimate interest (and concern) about what was going on in Ukraine -- and would be conferring and coordinating their moves with Putin -- rather than trying to provoke him.

Mitt vs. Putin—I don’t know who would win there—I believe things might have gone the way they did—BUT that being said—Mittens would have been a better President in his off days than Obama on his best—he would have dropped Obamacare—Day One! He needed a spine to face up to the Obama Media Machine but—I bet he could have pulled it off. Never count a Mormon down—

What better way to consolidate the power of FedGov over the citizenry than create and execute a pen and phone international crisis unfolding into a shooting war with Russia? Obama is following the FDR pattern. We are going to wake up some morning soon with our personal assets frozen, food and gas rationing, soup to nuts government single payer services in place by decree and draft notices in the mail...to fill the cannon fodder ranks and go do our "patriotic" duty- all in time to blunt the 2014 election cycle.

“it will happen, trust me, down the road. We are too badly are divided. I stand by my prediction.”

On that I agree, but only when our economy truly fails.
