NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The State Attorney General says Tennessee can lawfully use the electric chair on death row inmates if drugs used for lethal injection are not available.
Attorney General Bob Cooper's written legal opinion was issued this week as state lawmakers consider a bill that would allow condemned prisoners to be electrocuted if lethal injection is thwarted by big drug companies or the courts.

I vote for nitrogen asphyxiation. It has happened accidently, and from what I recall it is particularly insidious because the victims have no sensation of discomfort whatsoever. They just pass out, and then die in short order.

I’m all for deathrow inmates having a choice.
They could choose drugs, electric chair, being dropped from a plane, run over by a train, hung by the neck, firing squad, explosion, implosion, drowning, and stoning.

The constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. It does not guarantee a painless execution.
