Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, had an "oops" moment on the House floor, as seen in C-Span video.

The Houston representative declared the U.S. Constitution was some 400 years old.

Unfortunately, that's incorrect.

The Constitution was created in 1787 and ratified nearly a year later. Four hundred years ago, Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in North America, was founded.

Her district is in Texas. But it is made up of clones of her. It is in inner city Houston. A ride through her district tells the story. Do not lump her with our state. She is a obtuse exception.

"Her IQ is average— 80"

Actually her demonstrated IQ is somewhat less that the value of the cosmic background radiation in an absolute temperature unit (kelvin).

Some of the dumbest people I ever met are graduates of Yale ..or Harvard for that matter.

It's a thing among Ivy League grads to hire their own. You may get one good exec from say Harvard, but he'll soon fill as many positions as he can with idiots from Harvard who can't get a job on their own.

I would guess that she’s never heard of the Union of the Crowns.

Of course, it’s entirely possible she was thinking of the Union of the Crowns of Cleveland and Miami under King James and D-Wade.

The 18th Congressional District includes central Houston and many of its surrounding neighborhoods. The 2003 redistricting decreased the Black population of the district while adding Latino residents, and today Blacks comprise 40 percent of the 18th Congressional District and Latinos make up 37 percent. The district’s poverty rate is 23.3 percent and the median income is $31,291.

And the same genius who said after we left, North Vietnam and South Vietnam lived side by side in peace.

And complained that hurricanes don’t have African-American sounding names.

And said on the House floor “I stand here as a freed slave because this Congress came together.”

Well DANG, she’s dumb! Let’s set her and her “400 years” right up there next to a similarly dumb entity and his “57 states”.

You know that she is just so used to railing against “400 years of slavery”, that she just thinks that is when everything started around here.

To: Morgana; a fool in paradise

On the other hand there is still the possibility (possibility, I say!) that the woman is a MENSA member or candidate, and a little tiny bit uninformed, like, say, a Ph.D from, say, Albania would be, who likewise could think that there is a U.S. flag on Mars and the Constitution is 400 years old. Did I say possibility?
