Democratic strategist James Carville predicted the next GOP presidential nominee will come from Texas.
"It's either going to be Ted Cruz or Rick Perry," Carville said Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."
Cruz is a freshman senator from Texas and a tea party favorite, and Perry is serving out his last term as Texas governor. Perry ran for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012 but came up short after a few fumbles on the campaign trail.
But Perry has advantages, Carville said.
"He's been around the track once, and he can raise a bucketload of money," Carville said of Perry. "He can accidentally hit his speed dial and raise $5 million."
Carville said said Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker all have a chance.
Paul's father, former Rep. Ron Paul, ran for president in 2012 and got 21 percent of the vote in Iowa.
"You got to almost assume that Rand Paul can build on that, at least duplicate that,"

Your analysis is right on the money IMO.
Yep Perry stumbled in the 1012 debates. Debate has never been his forte’, he’s a Vet Grad, but he gives speeches that amaze and inspire.
If we keep depending on debates to select our POTUS, we will keep getting what we got. TV loves them because its great for their ratings, but they ain’t good for America.
“He can accidentally hit his speed dial and raise $5 million.”
That is very true.
Is it weird that I want Snakehead to be right about Cruz? That Ted will be our next POTUS candidate?
I do not agree with him about Perry though. There’s baggage there beyond just his stupidity over the TTC.
As he was once heard to say, “Adios mofo...”
It's going to be an exciting campaign season.
I heard Dr Carson speak week before last. He is coy, won’t say if he is running for President. He said there are several good guys running and if one of them doesn’t catch fire, he will pray about it.
But, and this is the important part, he laid out his detailed version of health care reform noting that there were several plans and the task would be to develop a plan that served the needs and could be agreed. To me that means he wants to be the person with hands on to not only provide knowledgeable input but sort through the opinions and get it settled.
That’s why I had him as the VP half of of the ticket. Health care is the number 1 or 2 problem to be solved. He is a great choice to do it. It might not take a brain surgeon but when the best brain surgeon in the world offers his help, it might be a good thing to take him up on the offer.
I heard Palin speak but I am sorry I missed Perry.
I remember after Perry dropped out of the race, he started looking very Presidential.
I was ALL IN for Sarah though it never happened, would support her above all others if she ever ran, but yes I like Perry and Cruz
