A missing half-million dollars is being called an accounting error, a mistake.
The $500,000 mystery was associated with the re-election campaign of Gov. Rick Scott.
Thats how much money Florida Crystals, a leading sugar producer founded by one of the states politically prominent families, was reported to have given a political organization set up to help the campaign of the Republican incumbent.

John French, an attorney and chairman of the group...[said] there was never a $500,000 check and that state records as well as Lets Get to Works website were corrected once the mistake was discovered.
Funny how CBS Miami and the rest of the Charlie Crist fan club in the Florida media rarely report the number of people who are losing health insurance thanks to Obamacare, or how many people LOST JOBS while Crist was at the helm of the governorship.
Nope, only bookkeeping errors by people supporting Rick Scott are newsworthy in the minds of those media clowns.....
Florida media circus news ping.
>> A missing half-million dollars is being called an accounting error, a mistake.
You don’t “say”.
How much money has to be flowing through your hands for an unaccounted half-million to be an accounting error?
They should find out exactly who made that entry. Dirty tricks of this nature - for example, someone inserting what would look like a large and suspicious but non-existent donation - would not be unlikely at all.
The Dems comb through GOP records looking for something that they can claim is illegal. Our little GOP organization in North Florida was harassed with charges of “financial irregularities” because one little old lady had paid for the tickets of a group of her little old lady friends at a GOP dinner. They were going to pay her back, but to make sure they all sat at the same table, she put the tickets on her charge card. And the Dems found it and claimed she was making an illegal donation.
We never do the same to them, but maybe we should.
Big sugar, big cattle and big citrus own and control all Florida politicians.
Much the way the Vegas mob controls harry reid.
They pretty much get their way.
Pollution on a grandiose scale? No problem when you’ve got them all in your pocket.
Why do ya think Rubio is for amnesty? Big sugar and citrus need that cheeeeep labour.
Indeed.
All you need to know about Democrats is that they project. Whatever they accuse others of doing, is what they themselves do. I bet all kinds of interesting things are on the Democrat books.
According to the article, about $25,000,000.
How would amnesty create cheap labor? Aren’t they getting cheap labor by hiring illegals? No minimum wage, no social security, no benefit costs. Amnesty, as I understand it, would instantly create a giant pool of unskilled workers who would get $7.25 per hour or more....plus any government mandated benefits.
Precisely. That’s why it’s not only “amnesty”; it’s open borders to keep the flow of defenseless but willing cheap labor. The “amnesty” is just a step to make instant Democrat voters.
The term amnesty presupposes that that which is illegal will remain so and be punished in the future. That’s not what’s going on.
it’s not just amnesty they want but open borders
also if this bunch of illegals are allowed to become legal they will be eligible to bring in their extended families.
Immigration reform is also about guest workers.
A foreign worker under the H2A temp ag worker visa will cost agribusiness a lot less than a domestic worker or an illegal masquerading as a domestic worker.
The problem is that the H2A has certain requirements that make it very difficult for agribusiness to use.
Advertising requirements
Negotiating a fixed date contract with the Labor Dept
The 50% rule
The three quarter rule
So if in the course of immigration reform, they reform the H2A ag worker visa to soften or eliminate these requirements it makes it better for those who want to hire these guest workers.
If big business wants amnesty, it is because of this. In general, it is a lot easier to bribe a Democrat than a Republican. Crony capitalism.
I understand the former being cheaper, but how is it with the latter? And how is that related to amnesty if it is merely a type of visa?
Because there is a prevailing wage rate.
"how is that related to amnesty"
Its not. It is only related or connected to amnesty because they want to pass "comprehensive immigration reform", which means they want include everything related to immigration in a single act.

The Left and Right are two very different classes of character.
