The search for Malaysian Airlines MH307 plane has been expanded to Sumatran waters, north of Straits of Malacca, as military radar may have detected the missing plane in the vicinity of Pulau Perak.
A Berita Harian report today quoted the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) as saying the plane may have reversed course further than expected while on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Air Force chief Rodzali Daud ( left ) is quoted as saying that based on military radar readings from its station in Butterworth, MH370 may have turned west after Kota Bahru and flew past the east coast and Kedah.
"The last time the plane was detected was near Pulau Perak, in the Straits of Malacca, at 2.40am," Berita Harian quotes Rodzali as saying.
This contradicts with earlier reports that the aircraft had disappeared from radar screens 120 nautical miles off Kota Bharu and over the South China Sea, at 1.30am on March 8.
The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) had previously said the search for the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, which is missing for the fourth day, had previously been focused around the waters between East Malaysia and Vietnam.

“Malaysia Airlines live: military says last tracked plane hundreds of miles off course
Malaysia’s military believes it tracked a missing jetliner by radar over the Strait of Malacca, far from where it last made contact with civilian air traffic control”
I think the left man simply had an upper-only pix, and this poster or whomever it is holding it up simply plopped that pix on top of already-posted full pix of other man. Power Point carelessness.
No, no big deal. See my other post.
Hard to believe in today’s day of technology that commercial aircraft do not constantly broadcast their flight parameters to a database where it can be retrieved.
Lots of things can happen to cause or allow all that. It is not a big shock if the plane went bad and pilots didn’t know where they were going, etc.
I still say no evidence there is any conspiracy here.
Thinking now is a good time for speculators to shut up.
Just cuz...figure it out.
Clear weather. Landmasses and sun are hard to miss.
I’m done till I hear....certain things.
That's what I'm thinking
Vanished Malaysia Airlines flight leaves relatives with anger and phantom phone calls
One of the most eerie rumors came after a few relatives said they were able to call the cellphones of their loved ones or find them on a Chinese instant messenger service called QQ that indicated that their phones were still somehow online.
A migrant worker in the room said that several other workers from his company were on the plane, including his brother-in-law. Among them, the QQ accounts of three still showed that they were online, he said Sunday afternoon.
One man said he had convinced two policemen to come to his home Sunday night to witness the active QQ account on his desktop computer. But sometime Monday afternoon, when he wasnt paying attention, it had suddenly switched off.
Like so many involved, he was now left with even more questions left unanswered. Did the phones battery run out? Had sea water damaged it? Was it just a random anomaly of some Internet server? Or was the plane hijacked and still out there somewhere? I hope someone can answer these questions for me, he said.
If true, sounds like the plane crashed over land.
I did hear about the person being spotted as logged on on QQ.
Choice is yours.
That is a long way from where they were supposed to be. Why? A hijacking would kind of make sense, but the pilot could squawk 7500 on the ATC transponder without arousing too much suspicion.
If we knew where it crashed, it would be all over the news. If we knew it crashed, but not where, same deal.
If it didn’t crash, think thru why all the silence..
This is what am leaning towards, too..
Sun? In the middle of the night?
I still think it’s totally possible to crash on land. Even the cell phones MIGHT indicate that. (But it may be the service simply kept rolling, not the phone - but I don’t know the protocols of those things.)
If they have plenty of jungle, wild and virtually human-free which I’ve been led to believe they do in Asia, it’s perfectly possible their path went toward land and they crashed unnoticed in some God-forsaken jungle.
Still don’t believe the conspiracies. I have no reason to.
suitcase nuke?
Because we wouldn’t know where it is?
Just like now?
A point that I haven’t seen discussed is that radar will continue to follow a “passive” target, even if every electronic device is disabled. The plane would not just disappear from the screen, only all its ident and altitude information. Has anybody seen a report of anybody asking about this?
