Original tea partyers returning to GOP fold

Fortunately, the actual voters behind the tea party movement of 2009 did some good before the vultures arrived.

Since that movement's peak in 2010, the sentiment of those original voters — a pretty even split of Republicans, Democrats and independents — has been hijacked by every political circus-barker able to buy a domain name that includes such key words as “freedom,” “liberty,” “warrior,” “conservative” or “tea party.”

These same political operators have no problem making money from frustrated voters by challenging incumbent Republican officeholders with often untested, unsophisticated but deep-pocketed candidates — with mixed results.

People fed up with the government are still around, still energized, still anxious to give voice to their votes. They just wearied of those trying to make a buck with a website, a campaign or a book reflecting an inflexible, often extreme ideology that shares little with the tea party's original purpose.

“I can speak from experience, that it is the case here in Pennsylvania,” said Dwight Weidman, a Franklin County Republican. “Most of the folks who came out for the tea party when it began have dissociated themselves from these extreme elements.”

Weidman points to the challengers of U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster in Western Pennsylvania who claim to be true conservatives or tea party patriots opposed to Shuster's “establishment” record. He believes the more strident that Shuster's challengers become and the more they associate with the extreme fringe, the worse they will do with rank-and-file Republicans and regular voters in November.

It is odd for Shuster's conservative bona fides to be challenged, since he holds 100-percent ratings on nearly every conservative-cause scorecard.

In last week's Texas Republican primaries involving U.S. Sen. John Cornyn and U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, “high-profile” tea party challengers garnered far more press credibility than they deserved — largely because they pushed the storyline of a deep divide among Republicans in very conservative Texas.

Yet, in the lead-up to Sessions' landslide victory over upstart challenger Katrina Pierson, you would have thought the 10-term congressman from Dallas was within a hair's breadth of losing.

Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks PAC, one of those money-making “tea party” groups, was quoted as calling Pierson “one of the best activists in Texas who has been working overtime, trying to help Pete Sessions find his way back home.” He confidently predicted she would win.

Ted Cruz, the freshman U.S. senator from Texas, called her an “utterly fearless, principled conservative” without once mentioning Sessions.

And reports in conservative media that Pierson was “surging” in the closing weeks of a “bitter battle” were wildly over-hyped, either because those reporting this “news” were fed bad information or made the fatal mistake of reporting what they wanted rather than what really was happening.

Sometimes movements end. In fact, every political movement in this country has ended or at least faded into one of the traditional political parties, from the Anti-Mason and Free Soil factions to the Wets, Drys, Progressives and so on.

Cornyn's crushing victory of more than 50 percentage points over “tea party” challenger Rep. Steve Stockman, and Sessions' two-to-one defeat of Pierson, are glimpses of how voters who just four years ago were part of the tea party movement have now settled back into their true conservative base — the Republican Party.

That doesn't mean they won't revolt again; Ross Perot's impact on the American electorate didn't occur all that long ago.

The dime-a-dozen outside groups that oversold their influence in Texas and in other states will continue to absorb great gobs of money in more races across the country, by accusing the “Washington establishment” and others of conspiring against them and provoking their losses.

They certainly will never admit that their own poor campaign skills or their untested, unvetted candidates might be the real problem.

This cycle will end only when voters realize that these are not groups filled with ideological purists willing to do battle because they are true believers. They're just good-old-fashioned political swindlers.

With the exception of the races mentioned in this article, the Old-Guard GOP-E that surrounded Straus in Texas were thoroughly trounced by Tea-partyers.

Yep. Nearly a clean sweep including the Judicial races.

While the three tea party incumbents who were being challenged by establishment politicians won big, liberal-leaning Republicans closest to House Speaker Joe Straus lost in race after race this week.

Defeated Straus incumbents include State Rep. Lance Gooden in House District 4, Diane Patrick in HD94, Linda Harper-Brown in HD105, Bennett Ratliff in HD115, and Ralph Sheffield in HD55.

Lt. Gov. Dewhurst fights for survival in GOP race

Dewhurst is fighting for his political legacy after presiding over the Texas Senate for 11 years. In that role, he has chosen committee leaders, controlled the legislative agenda and maintained the Texas Senate's clubby atmosphere that keeps the wheels of government turning.

But after his loss to Ted Cruz in the 2012 GOP primary race for the U.S. Senate, Dewhurst has tacked hard to the right. He has talked more about banning almost all abortions and even appointed Patrick to chair one of the Senate's most power committees, public education.

Patrick, meanwhile, focused on passing abortion restrictions and expanding the number of charter schools in Texas, while unsuccessfully pushing for tougher laws regarding illegal immigration.

Patrick scored big with 41 percent of the vote to the incumbent's 28 percent in a four-way race. Two other conservative candidates, both former lawmakers who serve as elected commissioners for major state agencies, shared 29 percent of the vote.

Every day we will read about the premature death of the Tea Party. They are messing with a group who has been so truthful and unimpressed with the media, their glamour, fabulous babes, emotional arguments, fawning over the libs, Hollywood, the utopian plans.

Impervious to the media, they do not live by the media and they, therefore, will not die by the media... ditto Karl Rove, the RNC and the C of C.

THE ‘REPUBLICAN’ CONTROLLED LEGISLATURE PASSED AND ‘REPUBLICAN’ GOVERNOR TOM CORBETT SIGNED A ‘TRANSPORTATION FUNDING BILL’ RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS LAST YEAR THAT RAISED FEES LIKE DRIVERS LICENSES AND SO ON BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY RAISED GASOLINE TAXES BY A WHOPPING 28 CENTS A GALLON.

NOW THEY EXPECT EVERYBODY TO MARCH IN LOCKSTEP WITH OUR GLORIOUS GOVERNOR WHO RUNS COMMERCIALS SUGGESTING HE DIDN’T RAISE TAXES AND HE’S FIXED THINGS IN HARRISBURG AND DONE THE RIGHT THING.

A TEA PARTY CANDIDATE IS CHALLENGING HIM IN THE GOP PRIMARY AND THERE WILL BE NUMEROUS LEGISLATIVE CHALLENGERS TO GOP INCUMBENTS ALSO IN THE MAY 20TH PRIMARY.

WE HAVE A SPECIAL STATE SENATE ELECTION IN MY COUNTY MARCH 18TH WITH A TEA PARTY WRITE-IN CANDIDATE TO FACE THE HAND PICKED CANDIDATE OF THE GOP MACHINE WHO VOTED FOR THE TAX INCREASE IN THE STATE HOUSE.

THE PROGRESSIVE REPUBLICAN PARTY LEADERSHIP IN THIS STATE WAS THERE TO OPPOSE WILLIAM TAFT FOR TEDDY R IN 1912, OPPOSE ROBERT TAFT IN FAVOR OF TOM DEWEY AND EISENHOWER, OPPOSE GOLDWATER FOR GOVERNOR SCRANTON IN 1964, OPPOSE REAGAN IN 1976 AND 1980.

AND THEY STILL HAVEN’T CHANGED THEIR STRIPES.....

Usually Zito is a good political analyst, but this time I think she’s seeing things she wants to see, not what is really out there.

Some T-Party activists may have gone back into the GOP proper, but to work from the inside. The GOP is a goner is they don’t have T-Party support. Period

Re some movements fade away or are absorbed by the larger ones. The “Progressives” never faded away nor were they absorbed by the Democrats, witness the number of “progressives” openly listed in the “Progressive Congressional Caucus”, at least 80 (losing a few to retirement this year).

These “progressives” have deliberately planned the marxist takeover of the old Democrat Party, and they started a long time ago (I would say in the 1940’s because of the number of Communist Party USA covert members in Congress (See Appendix IX for the lists of CPUSA fronts that they were in (CIO Political Action Committee volumes, mid-1940’s).

They had to lay low in the 50’s while McCarthy and others tried to clean house of the reds and pinks. However, they resurfaced in the 1960’s, esp. with a first real crop of “progressive/reds” including Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich), and then Don Edwards (D-Cal), the Burton brothers (D-Cal), Kastenmaier (D-Pa), Charles Porter (D-Oregon), Bella Abzug (D-KGB, er, NY), and others. Followed by leftists Harkin, Kerry, Rangel, Parren Mitchel in the 70’s, and George Crockett Jr (D-Mich/CPUSA) in the 1980’s, with Chris Dodd (C-Ct) going way far left over Nicaragua (along with Kerry and Harkin).

Almost every Democrat congressman/woman from California and Illinois are “progressives”, which is marxist doublespeak for communists/marxists. Add in those from New York, a few from New Jersey, Oregon, Washington State, and Colorado, and you have the core of the “progressives” in Congress.

They are the enemy, make no bones about it. Glad that they listed themselves for all to see. What you see will shock you, not because we have so many reds in Congress, but because the mainstream media has covered up for them for the past 50 years. Believe me, I know as I was a reporter covering them for both newspapers and newsletters (conservative ones), and when I offered stories to liberal newspapers, it was “Gone With The Wind” time, the vertical file, paper shredder, etc.

If you saw the coverup job that the Wash. Post did for Rep. George Crockett Jr. (D-Mich), a CPUSA red since the 1940’s, then you would understand it all. Try to Google Crockett and Wash. Post about 1987, or “Michael Waller and George Crockett and Washington Post”.

I helped Mike nail Crockett’s red ass to the wall because he was appointed as Chairman of the House International Relations/Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Latin America just as the Sandinistas were getting beaten by the Freedom Fighters of Nicaragua, the FLMN was getting beaten in El Salvador, and after Grenada had been liberated from the Cubans/Grenadian marxists of Bishop and Coard.

The WaPost made fun of our documentation, conveniently leaving 95% of it out of their coverup story. After all, their top foreign correspondend in Nicaragua during the communist-led revolt, Karen De Young, covered up the communist factions and their avowed marxist programs, for the paper, as did columnist Jack Anderson.

This was deliberate, not an accident, and it was only one of several major coverups by the mainstream media in the US.

Remember, it was “progressives” who ran the major newspapers, including Viet Cong supporter “little” Sulzberger of the NY Times, a red if there ever was one.

The “Progressives” now run the White House, influence a great part of the Senate and some of the House, a lot of the media, and hold key positions of influence in academia.

They’ve spent decades infiltrating and taking over the Democrat Party and its supporting organizations (organized labor, the teachers unions, journalism schools, educational programming, and even some of the major religious denominations).

It is time that the Tea Party get inside the GOP and take it over. Nothing wrong with that. It would keep the fake, money grubbing false conservatives out of the elected political arena, while creating a significant base of influence within the GOP.

It is time that we got down to brass tacks, exposing the false T-Party groups, holding the GOP establishment’s balls to the fire about having a realistic and hard-hitting constitutionally-based platform, and ousting the gutless losers who have helped to bring about the political crisis we now have in America.

Time to purge from within and without. We have a very hard and long battle ahead of us against the Left, and we will need a strong united front in order to contain and then destroy them.

No time for political shisters, con artists or ego-trippers. We need the best and the brightest, NOW!
