MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (AP) Republican Sen. Rand Paul says President Barack Obama's health care law probably can't be defeated or gotten rid of. And he's suggesting there are few ways and little time for him and other congressional Republicans to stop it.
Speaking to reporters Saturday at a gathering of Michigan Republicans, the presidential prospect said Republicans in Congress could use votes on measures in the House and in the Senate to come up with compromise legislation that could make the law more palatable. Some provisions, Paul said, include removing caps on health savings account contributions or deductibles for health policies.
. . . . .
"I'm acknowledging we can't probably defeat or get rid of Obamacare," he said. "But by starting with our position of not funding it, maybe we get to a position where we make it less bad."

OF COURSE we can get rid of obamacare. We can start by electing people who will do it. And not nominating those who won’t, who don’t know how, or who can’t figure it out. Or who are lacking in courage or motivation.
It's like saying we probably can't get rid of stage one cancer on behalf of Americans by surgically removing the malignant tissue (Obamacare law) rapidly!!!
I was here before you were born. Pound sand.
No. To answer the question in the silly way you framed it, it is not.
As I tried to clarify in a subsequent post. He said this in September of last year in response to the implementation of the law just days later on October 1st. Was it possible to stop it with just 10 days to go before it kicks in? If that was the context then he was honest and correct.
And you are simply being dishonest with yourself if you think that statement in ANY way means that he is supportive of the ACA or that Rand Paul is waiting to see what the general public thinks before he expresses his personal beliefs. He was being truthful that he could not get enough support to help stop it before October 1st.
Again, I am not leaning towards one potential candidate or another at this point.
Go pluck yourself lefty.
PISS ON RON PAUL.
You did see the gigantic leap in the polls favoring the Dems when the government shut down?
Ted Cruz was amazing and put up a fight, but with boot-licking Dem Senators - Rand was right, too.
It’s this year or never. Channel some of this in-fighting to securing a huge Republican majority in 2014.
I’d love to see Mark Warner in VA tossed out on his backside.
Rand Paul is NOT John McCain, for goodness sakes.
Good job.
Unfortunately, it is going to take some of them as well to facilitate a change. Fortunately for us, the ACA is an equal opportunity financial oppressor. Liberals didn't believe the warnings. Now they are seeing what we foresaw. We just have to make sure the left doesn't frame elections on red herring social issues.
I’m thinking we probably ‘can’t get rid of Obamacare’ until after Barack leaves office, but yes, of course we will get rid of it all. Paul Ryan disapppoints once again, so quick to throw in that towel of defeat and aquiessence. Same attitude sank him during the Vice Pres. debate with Joe The Clown. He was so appalled and thrown off kilter by Joe’s rude and crude behavior, that he didnt fight back, not really.
"I will continue to lead the fight until we win, he said. I will not vote for any CR that funds Obamacare and if there is one penny for Obamacare I will vote no.
And obtw he supported Cruz on the Senate floor and voted AGAINST closure.

That is exactly what is going on, see 51
The voters in his home state can start by getting rid of Rand Paul!
Bye bye Paul, another enabler of Democrats.
Correct.
Rip it out by the roots.
Some will be hurt but the Republic can be saved.
Get international health insurance for serious stuff. Going offshore for your bypass (non immediate emergency) is much cheaper than getting it in the USA anyhow and the doctors are just as good. In fact in a short time they will be the same doctors you remember. The better American doctors will do what the English and Canadian doctors have done- go offshore. The Cariribbean countries have streamlined their laws to facilitate the setting up of offshore clinics and hospitals to cater to the American doctors who choose not to retire.
Yep. The alternative is that it fails as intended and must be ‘saved’ by a pure National Health Care system.
One pundit says DON’T Fund the Obamacare portal of $1.8 billion dollars and this might do a lot to stop it.
