Touting the contrast between red states and blue states, Rick Perry kicked off the second day of CPAC by spiritedly urging his audience to help bring back those successful conservative policies that have been absent in Washington for the last several years. Its time for a little rebellion on the battlefield of ideas, the Texas governor said, paraphrasing Thomas Jefferson.
We dont have to accept recent history we just need to change the presidency, Perry continued. We must elect the right kind of leaders to represent us to Washington.

Thanks. This quote I am not fond of:
Nobody has dealt with this issues more than I have, he said. Texas governor, a border governor, you have to deal with these issues. You cant just talk about it and say, Oh, lets build a wall from Brownsville to El Paso and that will take care of it. We have to live with reality.
When one is a leader of men, one has the power and obligation for the sake of the rule of law to shape reality to that end, not succumb to it (i.e. acquiesce to a lawless end).

I remarked to a friend of mine the other day that upon reflection its too bad we did’nt elect Perry President in 2012. He wuold have been good.
But I think 2016 is the time of Ted Cruz.

Okay, I read it. Nowhere in there did Perry support the DREAM Act. ln fact, he said we can’t reform immigration until we secure the border.
Now, I can see why you might interpret his comment about not deporting 12 million people as being open to some form of amnesty. However, when I look at it in context, my take-away is that he sees the process of moving 12 million people out of the county as a logistical and financial nightmare. He suggests we come up with a solution that addresses that “reality” without disenfranchising legal immigrants.
Whether or not that’s possible is another debate, but his larger point was that we must close the border first. Then we can have that debate. FWIW, Bobby Jindal and Rand Paul have voiced similar sentiments.

It’s absolutely fair to ask Perry what he did to further that goal in Texas. Ask loudly, ask often.

Well did not as Gov. Perry mad TX more attractive for businesses? If my memory is correct, TX is in the top of the line or very close in consideration to being business friendly.

I think the idea that we are going to deport 12 million people that is not reality.This is the amnesty dog whistle.
If Perry's against amnesty then he and I have very different notions of what "amnesty" means. I like Perry in a lot of ways and I think he'd be infinitely better than what we have now or any of the RINO offerings being pushed at us for 2016 but he's got to get right on this issue or I simply can't support him. The policy should be:
- secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;
- end the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment;
- enforce eVerify without exception and with severe penalties;
- no government benefits beyond critical emergency care (and that ought to be billed back to the home government); and
- NO "Path to Citizenship" - ever - for anyone who has entered the US illegally.
Any policy that does not accomplish these five things is unacceptable. It is de facto amnesty. And it will inevitably encourage millions
more illegal entries.

Hey Gov. Perry, better start with yourself.
Come out unequivocally for no Comprehensive Immigration Reform, no Amnesty.
Until then, your words ring hollow!

I want a REAL CONSERVATIVE, not a pretender like Rick Perry. And, I want someone that at least can be considered conservative (which Perry can be) instead of the obese RINO Chris Christie or Jeb Bush.
Attacking the Perrys of the world the last time gave us Mitt Romney.

Rick Perry will NEVER BE CONSIDERED!
Ted Cruz is the way to go.
Rick Perry will sell us out in a heartbeat, and sha-zam ILLEGALS are suddenly citizens.
Rick Perry, he will NEVER get my vote, and as a matter of fact, I will vote AGAINST him, no matter who it is.
NEVER, oh and did I tell you, NEVER!
