MLK a Republican? Or Just a Dream?

Democrats insist that MLK wasn't a Republican. They want to claim, and take credit for, his dream, but not the blame for destroying that dream.

I agree with the libs. He’d have his hands in our pockets just like the Revs Jackson and Sharpton . . . no doubt about it. And his sexual proclivities would fit right in with that pervert from Arkansas.

Pretty sure MLK Jr. was not a republican. An urban myth.

But I do think his dad was.

Not surprisingly.

After all, the republicans freed the slaves and his dad likely had some nasty memories of the democrats "keeping blacks down".

As is democrat custom.

Take away message—Zo is a conservative.

Black people with the mental and moral enterprise to embrace conservatism always impress me greatly.

According to Michael Medved you are correct - father was Republican but MLK was not.

He was about one step removed from a Communist.

You're 100% right. He attended and learned at a communist training school. The photos of him there are all over the web and can be found with even a casual search. His close associates were commies. And what was he doing in Memphis during his last days alive? Preaching the Gospel and leading sinners to Christ? No...the "Reverend" Martin Luther King was marching on behalf of a communist-led government union, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. Along with the Big Labor goons, the sainted MLK was there with his good buddy, none other than Jesse Jackson.

The source that article uses says this, ""It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. In that era, almost all black Americans were Republicans."".

Which isn't close to true. The black vote, and party loyalty, reversed itself in 1936.

Pretty sure MLK Jr. was not a republican. An urban myth.

And even if the "Reverend Doctor" Martin Marxist Luther King did happen to have an R next to his name, so what? In its effort to a "Big Tent" party, a number of scoundrels and socialists were counted in its number from Bob La Follette, George Norris, Jacob Javits, John Lindsay to the RINOs of the current era such as Susan Collins (R-Maine).

In addition to my other post in this thread pointing out King's communist ties, do these words sound like those of a pro-American Patriot?

When a Hollywood performer, lacking distinction even as an actor, can become a leading war hawk candidate for the presidency, only the irrationalities induced by war psychosis can explain such a turn of events.

Guess who spoke those words in November 1967 and what "Hollywood performer" was the object of that vile attack?

If I’m not mistaken, he campaigned for LBJ. Definitely not a Republican. I also read that the Kennedys urged him to break ties with the commies - to no avail. Bobby kennedy was keeping an eye on him and his associations.

His niece, Alveda, claims he was. Lots to read up on this, of course, some of King’s immediate family say no.

This essay highlights a few issues but I don’t think you can find direct evidence where MLK registered as a Republican but I think the evidence is still better than some of the remarks here might indicate:

RE :”MLK a Republican? Or Just a Dream?,”

A Republican?

Pleeze,

Who is supposed to believe this tripe?
Blacks don't, Hispanics don't, liberal whites don't.

Who dreams this crap up?

Bobby kennedy was keeping an eye on him and his associations.

J. Edgar Hoover had the goods on this fraud. And the great Senator Jesse Helms (held in high regard by our fine Texas Senator Ted Cruz) also knew that lil' ol' Marty King Junior was no friend to real Americans. I'm too old to live until 2027 but when the records on King are finally unsealed that year, those holding him in such esteem will get a rude awakening.

And the endless series of lies perpetuated by MLK even go back to his name. He's not Martin -- he's actually Michael.

I doubt that he hated Reagan as much as Ayn Rand did though.
