Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), always currying favor with the press, made sure when he criticized Barack Obama he also ladled praise on him, calling Obama the smartest man in the room when recalling the series of dinners last year between Obama and GOP senators. Speaking with Time magazine, McCain said:
I thought when he had a couple of dinners with Republican senators, we really had a good environment there. Because he is a very, very articulate and attractive guy in a setting with eight or nine senators and him. Because he was smarter than the rest of us. But I dont see that now. I dont see any of that.
McCain also said, There are some things that he could find that we could do on a bipartisan basis, and that may not be his top agenda items, but hes got to do more outreach.
Those dinners were termed a success at the time by press secretary Jay Carney, who said the White House was encouraged and what seemed to be sincere interest in avoiding constant crisis, sincere interest expressed by the participants in the dinner. He added that Obama said one of the meals was very constructive and very pleasant.
But after Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) met with Carney last week, and following Obamas recent pronouncements of his intention to use executive actions to bypass Congress, Carney said it was a press misconception that the success or failure of legislation in Congress depends on the relationship between a president and a Speaker or a president and a leader in Congress.

LOL - post of the day!
It’s the power of projection: people NEED figureheads, so they project their own wishes for greatness onto a proxy. Such proxies are the smartest, brightest, bestest in the bunch!
Hillary was trumped as one of the top lawyers in America, but Camille Paglia asked “Where is her great legal work?” Obama, similarly, is touted as being a “Constitutional scholar”. Where are his scholarly works, then?
Obama does have gifts, no doubt. So have all the other villains of history. They use them to please Self.
obama will never be the smartest man in any room. Why? Because he is not a man. In my opinion. To others he is a god, an idol, a messiah, a savior. As far as I am concerned, there is no word, in any language in the history of the world that is derogatory enough, is vulgar enough, is demeaning enough to describe him.
... in a vacuum.
I hereonto dub he: Mc CANE!
“Because he is a very, very articulate and attractive guy in a setting with eight or nine senators and him. Because he was smarter than the rest of us.”
This is how Repubs undermine themselves and their whole agenda. Even if it were true you should never say it. RATS never miss a chance to call Repubs stupid, McLame is helping them reinforce their message.
“But I dont see that now. I dont see any of that.”
This statement is meaningless and has no political impact.

McCain and intelligence don’t belong in the same sentence. He is the poster child for not electing someone just because they are a veteran.
McCain....what a maroon.
He raises the IQ of any room he leaves.
If senators Cruz and Lee were absent, that was likely a true statement.
McCain also stood with the Dixie Chicks years ago... true to form...
If only McCain and Obama are in the room, then it’s a true statement.
Beat me to it.
if the room is full of empty chairs he is.....maybe
You’ve got that right. If Zerobama was actually smart and did well in school he would have released his transcripts showing that he had a solid GPA and aced some tough classes. That he hasn’t done that is proof that he was mediocre at best. Most likely he coasted through using affirmative action and benefits designed to assist foreign students.
The freaking scary part is Obama may be the smartest guy in a room of clowns.
That room is a broom closet, and it is true.....as long as Bo doesn’t wander in to dwarf his intellect.
This man ran for President, lost badly. Doesn’t he realize it’s time to shut the hell up. No one cares to hear his pronouncements. McCain, be quiet!
