America's kids have been suspended for pretending that pencils were guns, but an Ohio school may have topped that. A 10-year-old student at a Columbus elementary school was handed a three-day suspension for making a finger gun and pretending to shoot a classmate. The suspension letter more formally referred to his weapon as a "level 2 lookalike firearm," reports the Columbus Dispatch. Devonshire Alternative Elementary School's principal says students have been frequently told not to play pretend gun games, with a district rep saying kids were warned consequences would follow.
Those consequences hit hard last week for fifth-grader Nathan Entingh, who says he was "just playing around"; the rep said Nathan pretended to shoot another student "kind of execution style" in the head. And the "victim" didn't even see the mock execution, which was instead spotted by a teacher. Nathan's dad seems dumbfounded: "It would even make more sense maybe if he brought a plastic gun that looked like a real gun or something, but it was his finger." (Almost exactly a year ago, a Georgia teacher was suspended over a finger gun of his own.)
Good news! That’s a very attractive cat.
We had a similar experience with Jake, gone for three days. I sent kids bushwhacking through the woods, calling, “Jake! Blankets! Bacon!” and then, without being seen to come in the house, he turned up in my closet in a somewhat battered condition which required a trip to the vet.
Wow, that sounded like something from the Middle ages.
“Hubble bubble ,toil and trouble, mess with Darks and your Typos will double.”
A Phone call ,that was all that was required.
I take it the cat (Feline overlord) does have a Cellphone.?
Morning TC,
That’s a cute look. :)
See, Darks?
It’s easy to write up an interesting story. It’s just a walk in the park.
The very one. He said I should have come to him in the first place, and I said, it should never have gotten that far because at least three other people in the last year have brought it to his attention.
He was just being selfish and mean, and I reminded him that as a preacher, he should know better. He embarrassed himself and tried to off it onto me. Nope, not gonna wear THAT guilt. He was wrong, I am right.
Yes, very unusual.
Back from buying floor tile, off to the next thing.
I don’t think the Parking Place Pilferer will apologize...he embarrassed himself too much to become humble enough to admit he was a jerk. I’m waiting to see how it all plays out.
Those of us who are old enough to recall what “courtesy” means think his behavior is beneath him. But for now, it’s water under the bridge.
So when I visit again, the sunroom and the living rooms will be tiled? That will be nice for you!
It was a strange night, and I slept fitfully, then turned the light on and read for a while. I need to get some energy, but I feel hungover, and that can’t be.
80 degrees outside, with a high of 96 today. Yesterday was a warm 105. I will be mostly indoors today. I’m just a little too tired to be too enthusiastic.
I’m glad Smudge made it home. It sounds like someone may have tried to keep her.
She’s cute enough.
May he exist under a Fae glare, trowwies harry his paths for all the days of his life.
My sediments exactly!
I would say what my mother said in situations like this, but this is a family thread. So instead, I will say, “A pox upon him! A POX, I say!”
I sold virtually all of my electrics to a private collector a couple of weeks ago.
Last night, I finalized the sale of most of my acoustic stringed instruments to a different private collector.
Mrs. Scoutmaster is already making plans for the guitar room in the basement, once the storage racks are removed (after the buyer picks up the guitars today).
Ni gets married in seventeen days.
San quit her job at Chick-fil-A earlier this year and took a job as a server at a popular local restaurant about 2-1/2 months ago. Saturday was her last night. She couldn't handle the crude language in the food service industry, the constant sexual comments and jokes, tipsy customers, and being hit on by coworkers and customers (the restaurant is close to a couple of large hotels). San has lived in a bubble. Tips were excellent (typical Friday or Saturday night was more than a week at CFA), though widely variable from customer to customer.
Chick-fil-A wants her back as a shift manager (which could interfere with her class scheduling in the fall), and she's also looking at a local cupcake bakery that's owned by a member of our congregation.
San is discussing changing major from nursing (her planned major, along with youth minister, for the last five+ years) to interior design. Ack.
On Friday, I start a new form of medical treatment, physical therapy, and probably a few micro-operations to see if I can gain use of the fingers on my left hand.
Ichi is still Ichi. He and I recently went through photos from Philmont 2000 and 2002.
Today, I'm one-handedly helping three second-grade teachers (including Mrs. Scoutmaster) clean out their trailers 'learning cottages.' Catz are good. Dogz are great. I think that brings us up to date.
Kitchen and dining room. Sunroom and l/r will still be carpet.
Ah. What kind of tiles?
I’m very happy with my tile floors. Cool in the summer and easy to clean.
Thanks for the update. Nobody was killed here while I was at my prayer group, but it was a near thing.
Getting organized for Tom’s and Elen’s camp jobs. Jamie-our-hairdresser is coming over to do Youth Protection training so she can help at Day Camp. She’ll also cut my hair. Maybe we’ll go to the gym later, after Kathleen’s nap.
I hope the new treatment is helpful with your fingers.
Ceramic. The heaviest, most durable kind (according to Ramon Our Tile Guy). Dark reddish, like terracotta, and a slightly rough service so we don’t slip and kill ourselves. 12 x 12 ones and 6 x 6 ones.
Ramon does all sorts of tile arts in many colors, but we decided on something simple that wouldn’t take forever to install. Bill will be here and help out, and we’ll pay him whatever Ramon says he was worth ;-). There are also some teenage boys in the Spanish congregation who might be able to help, if needed.

Think I found the tune for post 6414 and what he’s doing throughout that section.
Well till Me dirtied it up ... I'll get a broom and dust pan.
