Oh...the poor baby. Will she spend her life whining because the world does not bow to her every whim. I hope the parents counter-sue this fool.

I wonder if she is on their medical insurance policy? If not, she can sue for that too.

Dad has always said the best thing about me was that I left home at 17 and never came back, LOL! (Unfortunately for him, I’ll be picking out his Nursing Home. Tee-Hee!)
Man, they’ve got their hands full with THIS brat!

Scares the crap out of me that this lawsuit was not shot down at the filing clerk’s desk.

She can go down the street and register in a public school.

Rachel may be an ‘honor’ student, but it doesn’t look like she’s learned much.

Rachel Canning, 18, claims her parents, Sean and Elizabeth Canning, threw her out of their Lincoln Park, N.J., home last year and stopped paying for her private high school, where she excelled as a cheerleader and lacrosse player. But Sean Canning says Rachel left voluntarily after she refused to abide by simple rules of the house

Canning filed suit last week and is scheduled to appear with her attorney, Tanya Helfand, at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Morristown Family Court. The teen will demand her parents pay a Morris Catholic tuition bill of $5,306 as well as $12,597 in accrued legal fees.So she has accrued $12,597 in legal bills and yet this is her first day in court. That's pure BS.

Don’t blame the spoiled brat kid, blame the punk attorney Tanya Helfand for taking the case.

I can see where they may be bound to pay for high school, since they likely signed a contract with the school at registration. If there is college fund money in her name, she may have the legal right to that, as well. Lots of details missing before everybody knee-jerk reacts to the headline.

One positive aspect of this absurd case is that even if the ridiculous outcome happens and Rachel Canning wins her case, her reputation is already out there for anyone with internet access. Would any professor want her in his/her class, knowing that if she doesn't get her way, she may sue? How about a future employer? Would any sane employer want to hire this spoiled brat? Call it reaping what you sow. Call it karma. Regardless, she really can't win in the end.

update: http://abcnews.go.com/US/rachel-canning-loses-suit-make-parents-pay-high/story?id=22768908
A New Jersey family court judge ruled today that Rachel Cannings parents do not have to pay her high school tuition after she sued them to cover her schooling and living costs.
The judge delayed a ruling on whether the parents must pay the 18-year-old students college tuition while asking lawyers to consider whether its wise to establish precedent where parents live in fear of establishing rules of the house?”
The judge also denied her request for attorney fees, although ruling that the parents should continue with weekly allowance and “child support” payments to their daughter.
The next hearing is scheduled for April 22
