Sarah Palins prescient assertion in 2008 that electing Barack Obama would embolden Russia to take on sovereign countries like Ukraine certainly seems to have been on the mark. Ironically, Tina Feys parody on "Saturday Night Live", taken for the truth about Palin exclaiming that she can see Russia from her house may also come true. I just hope we don't all wind up seeing Russia from our window.
After the events in Ukraine this past week followed by President Obamas lackadaisical response at a press conference Saturday and Palins original remark that Russia can be seen from land here in Alaska, a 2012 article from The Voice of Russia reads a bit more ominously.
Sergei Sayenko writes:
the purchase of Alaska has been surrounded by numerous rumors and myths. Some say that the US did not pay Russia in full; others insist that Alaska was not sold but was leased for 99 years. There is also a belief that the purchase treaty had been repeatedly violated, so it can be contested these days. The purchase of Alaska once inspired a popular Russian pop-rock band Lyube to compose a humorous song called Don`t be a fool, America, give us Alaska back. The song reflects Russia`s worries about Alaska, although the text has some historical inaccuracies.
It must be mentioned, however, that at the time when the deal was signed, many Russians regretted that Alaska was no longer theirs.
In the 20th century large oil and gas fields worth hundreds of millions of dollars were discovered in Alaska. Since then the region has turned into an actively developing US state with the highest per-capita GDP in the nation....

In appeasement I have no doubt that 0bama will return Alaska to Russia.
Hopefully Obama would at least up a real fight for Alaska
I’m wondering if the Indians want Manhattan back. De Blasio would probably sell it for $23, what it will be worth when the remaining taxpayers abandon ship.
Let’s give them Massachusetts. They have to take all their politicians, too.
Heck, odumbo will probably give back California to the mexiclowns if he got his way. They vote anyways..
And it would the stupidest thing he could do.
Which means of course he would do it.
Well, they might considering we have a flaming moonbat pajama boy CIC that can’t be impeached because he is black.
Might as well take BC and Washington State as well.
lol
It sure seems like he chooses the dumbest options
Barry IS the modern King Midas in reverse turning Gold Into LEAD since 2009!
Putting anything past him is inadvisable at best.
Since the real world isnt a straightline.....the concept of FORWARD is horribly ambiguous and dangerous in that a puke like obama can go forward in which ever direction he thinks he needs to proceed in... at any given moment.
Alaska? ya never know
Why stop there? Throw in the rest of New England and New York!
Don’t bet on it. Alaska is mainly populated by white people.
Alaskans won’t depend on that loser for anything; least their own defense. I continue to have this dream where I hear on the TV that Obama has just fled the White House.
There goes Season 10 of Deadliest catch LOL!
0bama does not know the anger or hell hath no fury of Americans since he’s spent his whole life in Chi-Congo getting names on a petition.
I have had those dreams too....
OR better yet there is old fishing saying here
How thing done in Alaska
There is right way, wrong way, and Norgerian way
if he could, 0bama would crawl up to Putin begging for appeasement and mercy, offering Alaska as a token of ‘good will’
and I’m only half joking...
Give away a state? Uh...no. If it were anybody but 0bama I’d say it’s too stupid to consider, but even so it remains too stupid to do. Call this one dark fantasizing, but no.
I have no doubt they would love to have it but Alaska is a US state. Not simply a US territory.
Russia moving in any way on Alaska would be an act of war
