I call bull$hit. Cops operate the same way around the world in the case of a traffic stop. How do I know? Been pulled over in:

Germany
UK
Japan
S. Korea

AND the Asians were not polite or pleasant.

“Regardless of nationality and language, when we put lights on, people pull over and stop.”

I think we are approaching the day when people switch over to either a Flight or Fight response rather than a "The-Government-Would-Never-Hurt-Me-I'll-Just-Do-As-They-Say" approach.

Type “crazy asian drivers” at google. One video after another. Meanwhile Americans drive responsibly.

How Asian driver sees the road.

Somewhat surprised they didn’t pin her to the ground and suffocate her while applying the handcuffs.

And it’s a good thing they didn’t have a dog.

These COPS ARE MORONS-

I believe that is one of the prerequisites to become a cop, especially if they aspire to the 0bama SS.

Too bad these tourists didn't have a dog for the cops to shoot.

“Fer cripes sake - someone call them a cab!”

Yeah, I hope they didn’t really just “let them go on their way” as stated. I wonder if they didn’t have driver licenses because they don’t drive in Japan? And hard to believe they had made it all the way from California.

The pursuit began at 1 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 15 near the Utah-Arizona border when the couple’s car was spotted going just 37 mph (60 kph) and swerving between lanes, said Lt. Brad Horne, Utah Highway Patrol’s DUI unit commander.

More than a dozen patrolmen were working the area in a special DUI (Driving Under the Influence) operation, and Horne said he figured the car was being driven by a drunken driver. Horne turned on his lights and siren to pull the car over.

Virgin River Canyon is a scary place especially at 1:00 in the morning. So they were in a motel in St. George last night which means they are now trying to figure out how to get through Zion National Park which means I should watch for them at my front door asking for directions any moment now.

“If you are without a driver’s license, who would rent you a car?”

Funny thing is that you can’t rent a car in Japan with a normal state-issued driver’s license. You have to have an “International Driver’s License” which is an otherwise useless piece of paper you have to get through AAA.

It’s the same when Americans go overseas.

Well-traveled Americans in Asia have been pretty clueless, too. This is especially sad because in some cases business deals fall through. Many travelers here and abroad, think they’re cosmopolitan in the ways of the entire globe, often because they watch the Travel or NatGeo Channels.

During Il Palio in Siena, Italy in 1999, some Italian friends and I watched an American tourist speak English slowly and raise his voice to an elderly Italian woman as if that would have made his question understandable. It was pretty funny because it was at the public restrooms and he finally gave up and started gesturing for more toilet paper by imitating wiping his ass.

Japanese are used to right-hand drive and being on the left side of the road.

I sure wouldn’t drive anywhere outside of the US (OK, maybe Canada) without an IDP, and without a little research about what to expect.

This is probably why you see tour buses hauling groups of Japanese around.

That was my thought on the matter, as well.
I sure don’t remember renting a car without
showing a drivers license and I speak English.
