#7 Sam Cooke: Shake
#7 Sam Cooke: A Change is Gonna ComeSam Cooke had died a month previous when he was shot by a motel manager in Los Angeles when a hooker ran out on him, taking his money. RCA capitalized on his death by releasing a pair of tunes, one of them recorded a year earlier. The second took up a position in the civil rights movement.

Good evening, Kathy!
*HUGS*
When I Sallied Forth this morning at 0615, it was a mere 7F in the Queen City of the Patapsco River Drainage Basin - Anchorage was at 40F. We've been temperature challenged here all day - I must request that you send us some of your warmth down here to the lower 48!
Very fast commutes today - Friday must be getting to be an optional day for our Federal workers overlords.
Happy Friday! Laissez les bon temps Roullez!

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

BUBBLING UP Marianne Faithfull: As Tears Go ByIts hard to believe that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote this beautiful little melody. Catch the oboe in the arrangement. Marianne was a beautiful woman then. Today she is a tobacco soaked hag.

Maestro, I knew that Sam Cooke died young - I was preoccupied with some family issues at the time and did not hear of it until after I returned to the States.
The February night when the music died was a shock. The passing of Sam Cooke, IMHO, was also a great loss that is seldom acknowledged in this day.
