The Obama administration laid out new restrictions on the marketing of junk food and sugary drinks in schools on Tuesday.
The new rules from the White House and the Department of Agriculture prohibit advertisements for unhealthy foods on school campuses during the school day, including sugary drinks that account for 90 percent of such ads in school. An ad for regular Coca-Cola, for example, would be banned from appearing on a scoreboard at a high school football game, though ads for Diet Coke and Dasani water, owned by the same company, would be allowed. Junk food ads like a Coca-Cola scoreboard would be phased out under the new rules and would not have to be replaced overnight.
The idea here is simpleour classrooms should be healthy places where kids arent bombarded with ads for junk food, First Lady Michelle Obama said in a statement. Because when parents are working hard to teach their kids healthy habits at home, their work shouldnt be undone by unhealthy messages at school.(continued)

The US Department of Education has the ultimate say-so over every school of any kind within the states and territories of the United States. PERIOD.
I hope people do repeat it. So far every time someone says this, or something like it, the lesser evil wing of FR goes into personal attack mode, questioning patriotism and making bizarre accusations... and lots of people are cowed into silence by them. Few will stand and fight.
Tell them to go to hell. Facts are facts and RINOs allow this crap. No point in electing a lesser evil RINO that sides with a Democrat. Just vote for the Dem and get your communism from a pro.
Doesn’t matter. As long as they continue to promote the low-fat-is-healthy mantra, they’ll continue to have lousy results.
Low-fat foods aren’t healthy, they’re cheap.
EXACTLY...low fat is a load of cr*p. Not sure they are “cheap” though.
And who determines what is ‘junk’ food?
I recall 40 years ago the ‘health’ experts were decrying young people eating hamburgers and fries for lunch.
Then, another ‘health’ expert came out with a study that indicated that hamburgers were generally more healthy than previous thought, because they had meat (protein), vegetables (lettuce/tomatoes), bread (grain).
Weren’t most people taught not to eat with their arm resting on the table? Sheesh.
They can start by limiting what thet eat at State dinners.
More BS fed to the news/propaganda arm to keep her name in the forefront. She’ll be ever so “qualified” to run for some office in the future. Kind of like being Bill Clinton’s wife.
Look at the hell people give pizza. And what is a pizza? It’s all 4 food groups. Lotsa veggies, meat, Bread and dairy.
There is NOTHING inherently unhealthy about pizza. It’s the food pyramid condensed into one place.
She always has such a bitchy looking attitude.
Mable Mable strong and able
get your elbows off the table.
That’s so old school don’t you know.
Oh...and buy a license to show scenes from “Idiocracy” at every campaign stop and point out all the EXACT examples from that movie we live with today.
“The White House has no jurisdiction in schools. Only the executive branch.”
AND your point is?
Where does the White House of the Executive Branch not have controlling authority?
Jurisdiction is sooo passé! Tainted by the odor of
courts, and judges and lawyers -— and plaintiffs.
Maybe you are a long-lost brother of mine! ;-D
With anything related to ME. If everyone else had any guts this sort of thing wouldn't be a problem. Americans deserve the government they now have. They do anything to preserve their rights. Somehow, sending troops to the Middle East is supposed to be protecting our Freedom.
Today it's me and my husband - our daughter has a packed from home lunch every day! She hates the food at school - except the fruit, but they don't always have oranges or apples and never grapes, her preferences, so she brings some from home, along with the chips and pretzels I make and her choice of sandwich.
