She may not look anywhere near her 76 years but Jane Fonda says she is well aware of her age.
The Hollywood legend who has made her career in an industry which isn't exactly kind to aging actresses - admits she has been brought to tears on more than one occasion recently as she comes to terms with her own mortality.
In a thoughtful blog post entitled 'Crying', which has since been removed, Jane wrote: '[I've been thinking], how come my tears are so close to the surface? And Ive come to feel it has to do with age. I have become so wonderfully, terribly aware of time, of how little of it I have left; how much of it is behind me, and everything becomes so precious (sic).'
Despite Jane worrying about her mortality, she believes getting older has its advantages, namely allowing her to appreciate the beauty in the world.
She said: 'With age, I am able to appreciate the beauty in small things more than when I was younger perhaps because I pay attention more.
'I feel myself becoming part of everything. I seem to be super sensitive to people's joy and pain. I ache for unwanted children in the world, for polars bears, and elephants, and Monarch butterflies, and dolphins, gorillas and chimpanzees (sic).'
Most recently Jane found herself becoming emotional at her friend Kerry Washingtons baby shower on Sunday.
She wrote: 'Today I was at Kerry Washingtons baby shower. She's 7 months pregnant and looking radiant.
'It was a wonderful party with guests being asked to go into a photo booth and take 6 different poses that were then mounted on a black paper where we could write a message....

At that she’s had a lot more time than the thousands of young troops she helped get killed in Vietnam....
You probably wish you will look that good at 76!
I was on a Tin Can providing NGFS (naval gun fire support)a few miles off the coast of Vietnam when this picture was taken. July of 1972.
I wonder if the swimmer asked forgiveness for killing Maryjo before he went.
Same for this hag.
Yep. I think Jesus said it best when he said "Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
I believe he was talking about some pretty nasty, horrible people at the time.
I take it she’s worried about where she’s going. I would be if I were her, after all the wrong she did our troops.
I wonder just how gross and diseased her grave will become once she dies and others are done pizzing on her grave. I wonder if the grave diggers will do a little preliminary peeing on her coffin before they start throwing the dirt in, with an occasional bathroom break right into her grave.
I’m not half the decent person Christ was. In fact, Christ was divine and no one can measure up.
Like most spoiled bitches she thinks she has it rough right now.
Good grief, she sounds like Shirley MacClaine.
Go see The Wall, my dear, and reflect that you’ve had four more decades than the men you cursed. Go to your grave knowing that you are despised by their survivors. Make your peace with God, with me you’ll have none.
(BTW, did you know he served in Vietnam?

So did Fonda.....
Don’t get me wrong, I have absolutely NO use for Kerry - in reality he goes right up there with the Draft Dodgers etc as far as being despised.
In an essence, part of my response was due to the statement of the person I was responding to inre ‘a person that believes doesn’t wish Hell on anyone’....
All I try to remember is ALL of these AWIPES will answer to a higher power some day AND they have to live with themselves every day.
I seem to be super sensitive to people’s joy and pain. I ache for unwanted children in the world, for polars bears, and elephants, and Monarch butterflies, and dolphins, gorillas and chimpanzees (sic).’

and do you ever regret and have a sensitive thought about the pain you caused the American troops in Vietnam ???
I always step back and respect vets’ freedom to express whatever feelings they have for this woman.
Get your hands on some facts about this situation.
Some people unwittingly compare her to Ted Kennedy. You can bet they don’t know the story.
She refuses to own up to what she did. If she would, and would also take the just punishment, she’d have peace.
She is a world class propagandist, believing her own versions of the story.
Find a good rendition of it.
Read one of the many true accounts written by the former POWs. And consider that anyone who goes through six years of torture alongside his friends/brothers going through the same, has had most of the vice it takes to utter a lie squeezed out of hime if it were ever there to begin with.
She only has a little time left. But she has enough time to apologize to all the Viet Nam POWs.
