Editorial cartoons often aren't pretty, to paraphrase Steve Martin's observation about the perils of comedy. But one found in the Opinion section of today's New York Times is downright ugly.
The cartoon, alluding to this year's brutal winter, suggests U.S. Department of Commerce "Strategies for Dealing With the 2014 Icicle Surplus." Among them are using icicles as "locally sourced hydration devices," "temporary doorsteps," and "brainteasers for dogs." Then comes a suggestion that one immediately looks at again, in disgust and disbelief -- icicles can also be used as "self-destructing sabers for dispatching climate-change deniers." As far as cartoonists at the New York Times are concerned, if you are skeptical about climate change, you should die. Preferably in a violent manner. Turns out the Gray Lady's got a mean streak. But you already knew that.
I take it as satire because the stabee is talking about global warming.
It also pokes fun at cash for clunker icicles and the stimulus.

Yes. Ultimately. According to the extremists, the number of humans on the planet is not sustainable.
Truth be told...
We all rely very heavily on industrialization for food, for everything. Destroy that and you have mass starvation and death. Example: Maoist China.
And to a lesser extent, and reading between the globalists global warming lines, American must give up or comfortable lives. To be able to turn up the thermostat when we are cold or take a nice drive to the country. Or just about everything that we enjoy in America. No, they won’t take that away. They’ll just make it very expensive to do so.
The average supporter of AGW doesn’t realize this.
Scratch the cheap paint off a progressive and underneath you will find a murderous Stalinist.

Nothing new here,, the NYT has been running interference for despots, tyrants and murderers for years.
I asked a rather liberal acquaintance what she meant by “climate-change denier” the other day. As in “do you actually know anyone who denies the climate is changing?” No answer. It’s a particularly stupid and stingless bit of rhetoric.
LOL! Did you ask what the “correct” temperature is?
And he’s smoking a cigar. That really shows how evil he is.
I have finally realized why so many of the general “non-technical” population are supporting global warming — it has little to do with some complex theory that they don’t understand. From their perspective, it has to do with something that humanity in general can rally around — saving the planet and ultimately ourselves. And if you dissagree than you are against something akin to world peace. Also, most people don’t want to be bothered with the complexities of the theory. It is too complex. So they beleive in it without question.
It has become a new religion to them. Those who consider God to be an antiquated notion. Those who accept "science" over the "myths that make up religion".
Western man is the original sinner. Natives and savages and "indigenous people" never harmed the planet.
Capitalists have exploited the wealth of the globe and live higher on the hog than anyone else. They must NOW pay their fair share through confiscatory redistribution. Tithing to the Third World under the guise of "carbon credits".
If you do not believe in their god Al Gore (who studied theology in college), you are a heretic. A "denier". One who must be shunned.
