300,000 is no small army. Let them start the shooting shooting first. Make sure there are multiple videos, and that you can't be shot. This "assault weapons" and high capacity magazines BS flies in the face of Heller.

the state will have to find space to imprison 300,000 residents for the next five years...

Child's play historically. At least Connecticut doesn't have to factor in the messy logistics of corpse disposal. yet.

The law is patently unconstitutional and almost nobody is going to comply with it. Perhaps the state legislature and governor will now read the constitution they’re sworn to uphold, defend. ?

Laws are more than just symbolic gestures.

Unless they’re immigration laws...

The General Assembly must do what Congress did in repealing the speed limit in 1995 and the states did in ending Prohibition in 1933. If it saves just one life, it’s worth it.

Nicely played. "Set an example" SWAT raids are going to get somebody killed, and the likelihood is that it won't even be a gun owner. None of the players quoted in public, however, seem to be inclined to back off even a single step. And the gun owners don't seem to be inclined to do anything at all in obedience.

What is most amusing about the affair is the surprise and disbelief on the part of the legislators that people aren't willing to give up on a fundamental right simply because the high priests of legislation have waved their magic wand. These guys are King Canutes who (unlike Canute) actually expect the tide to recede at their command. People that disconnected from reality are just the sort to start something that will fill body bags and then contentedly blame somebody else.

If it’s really serious, the state will have to find space to imprison 300,000 residents for the next five years.

Nah, they'll never take that many alive.

A legislature that would even consider passing such an anti-American “ law” should not just be put in a bind, it should be imprisoned forthwith.

The greatest fear of Banksters and Politiclowns is that the sheeple will one day decide they aren’t going to adhere to all the laws passed by the elite.

The big mistake for these so called legislators, media cheerleaders, assorted political hacks, governor, and feral cops: If you hunt WE, the people, to seize and confiscate our property, wrongfully imprison or murder us, then the time will begin for the victims to hunt you down and terminate you with extreme prejudice. Sane people should NOT want to go down this road.

The question becomes whether the political class wants to provoke a civil war? Civil wars are NOT civil and they assume a life of their own. They CANNOT be managed nor can they be contained. The end result is never certain, but the Rule of Law will be the first KIA in this fight.

I suspect the next step the state will do is announce a week-long “amnesty” for those flouting the law to come forth and comply with the registration requirement. That will have essentially the same level of failure as the law’s initial deadline. Even in states like CT, some folks know unconstitutionality when they see it.

Further, that 300,000 estimate doesn’t include the supportive family members of those refusing to register.

Here in the Indy area, we’ve just wasted 8 folks in 12 hours recently!

Surely we’ve made the news out in your neck of the woods.

(Any guesses as to the LEGAL sales of guns that this factoid will generate?)

Just for my info, how can you make sure you can’t be shot? This is very important to me and I am sure armies all around the world would pay big bucks for this. You could be a future billionaire.

When gun owners start flouting the law like they are illegal aliens or pot smokers it’s time for the government to start worrying, or sending out SWAT teams to enforce their totalitarian requirements.

I always found it an amazing leap of logic that the Supreme Court decision that “discovered” a glittering right to “privacy” that was based on “emanations from the penumbra” of the US Constitution immediately legalized abortion in all 50 states and in all US territories; yet Supreme Court decisions that have determined gun ownership is an individual right mean nothing, and states are allowed to run rogue over individual rights by passing and enforcing whatever unconstitutional provisions they so choose.

Bravo, flouters !

These patriots' refusals are no different than a jury's absolute right, nay DUTY, to refuse to sanction an unjust and/or unConstitutional persecution.

...the state will have to find space to imprison 300,000 residents for the next five years.

Everyone of the 300,000 should show up on a pre-determined day at the state capital and turn themselves in to be arrested...

That would put an end to this nonsense...
