Two leading Republicans on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence say that Michael Morell, former deputy director and twice acting director of the Central Intelligence Agency, provided an account of his role on Benghazi that was often highly misleading and at times deliberately false.
“I went back and reviewed some of his testimony the other day and he’s gotten himself in a real box,” says Senator Saxby Chambliss, the highest-ranking Republican on the committee. “It’s really strange. I’ve always thought Mike was a straight-up guy, gave us good briefings—factual, straightforward. I mean, this has really been strange the last few weeks—all this now being uncovered.”
At issue is the central role Morell played in producing the Obama administration’s flawed talking points about the fatal attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11, 2012, and the misleading answers he provided to lawmakers who investigated them.
The allegations of misconduct are serious. In the “additional views” portion of the recent Senate Intelligence Committee report, six Republican members accuse Morell of lying in sworn testimony to Congress. Several Republican senators tell The Weekly Standard that Morell misled them in one-on-one or small-group meetings about the talking points. Morell—now counselor to Beacon Global Strategies, a consultancy close to Hillary Clinton—did not respond to a request for comment.

The video excuse has vanished. Why isn’t anyone asking why?
If Saxby is truly outraged and really cares, he’ll issue a new subpoena and drag Morrell’s ass back before his committee to clear up the matter under oath. If that doesn’t happen, he’s just blowing smoke. Georgians have gotten used to Chambliss’s smoke and mirrors, but I’m hoping he’ll make his last year in the Senate count. The country needs him to follow through on Benghazi.

” Perhaps the most serious charge against Morell comes in the “Additional Views” section of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on Benghazi. The authors, six Republican senators who sit on that panel, report for the first time that in his testimony on November 15, 2012, Morell “emphatically stated” that the talking points were provided to the White House “for their awareness, not for their coordination.”
That is not true, according to the 100 pages of emails between administration and intelligence officials released last May. In fact, in one of the emails that began the flurry of communication among top officials, a CIA spokesman tells a White House spokesman that the talking points are being provided to the White House “for coordination.” That email, sent on September 14 from the chief of media relations at the CIA to the White House’s National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor, reads: “You should be seeing some ‘White Paper’ talking points from us this afternoon for coordination.” Ben Rhodes, a top foreign policy and national security adviser to President Obama, was copied on the email. So from the very beginning, top White House officials were involved in coordinating the discussion of what would go into the talking points, with heavy input from senior officials at the State Department and the intelligence community.”
That photo should be titled “I’ve come to believe that the majority of Washington bureaucrats and politicians are homosexuals.”
And I haven’t seen anyone even ask what John Brennan was doing that night, or in the aftermath that followed. Yet he was the one brought it to clean up the mess. Would he be the one who ordered monthly polygraphs for the Benghazi survivors?, most of whom we’ve never heard!

This whole Benghazi thing makes me sick. The attack on the Africa Embassies was one of the linked serious of attacks that emboldened AQ to think they could successfully attack New York. And this feckless bunch of America-hating fools has us right back on that pre-911 path.
Why haven’t the GOP gelded senators demanded this guy be indicted for perjury, or did he testify under the traitorous Demonrats’ fairy tale formula?
The most disgraceful aspect of this episode, second only to the belligerent negligence of the part of the administration in allowing four honorable servants to be killed, is the video story. It frosts my bagel to no end to have these malicious prevaricators lie to our faces for days, expecting us to swallow their tale. Whatever shred of credibility this administration had with me prior - and that is not much to speak of - has been wholly discarded ever since. I do not believe a word coming out of this administration’s mouth on a single subject. They should be behind bars and publicly disgraced forever more. I will not forget this as long as I live.
Shame we got away from firing squads for treason, these problems would not necessarily be non existent, but rare.
When the head of the spies is spied on and blackmailed, you know we’re in trouble.
