Tayna Fogle sat just behind Sen. Rand Paul, nodding her head and listening as he pressed the case with Kentucky state senators to restore felon voting rights.

People who hold to some antiquated notion of 2nd Amendment rights and freedoms and refuse to register their legally purchased high capacity magazines in CT are now felons.
In practice, though, the choice of candidates we so often have, it's hardly ever worth the time it takes to place your ballot.
That said, I don't think the biggest threats to our democracy are convicted felons.
Meth heads and pot head ex felons will be voting Democrat
Excellent point!
Most Americans commit THREE felonies a day, on average, unknowingly.
Nearly everyone on Free Republic, if arrested, would be charged with at least one felony.
INFORMATION AGE
You Commit Three Felonies a Day
Laws have become too vague and the concept of intent has disappeared.

You haven’t been charged yet.
It doesn’t follow that you won’t be charged or can’t be charged.
The average American commits three felonies a day.

Be careful what you wish for, in the eyes of the law, you are already guilty.
Three felonies a day, on average.
My concern is that the prison time served is not commensurate with the crime committed. There are too many people getting out of jail/prison before full payment on their crime. This especially applies to politicians and their ilk. At the same time there are too many innocent persons in prison and too much personal discretion by overbearing judges. Our ‘justice’ system has been eroded and corroded by to many superfluous laws and judges. Throw in the bunch of government at all levels enforcers.
>> It's called the Constitution. And it isn't crap. <<
I must have missed the section of the constitution that enshrines voting as a right for criminals. Perhaps its next to the parts of the Constitution guaranteeing "a woman's right to choose" and gay marriage.
The idea that voting is an automatic "right" rather than a privilege is wrong at a fundamental level.
Winner!
Applause
Courage
Yep....like prior to 68
Gun rights for state felons is fairly uncomplicated per state
Most southern state restore at some point to state statute felons
For federal felons....much more complicated and penalties draconian
Freepers as a rule....not big thinkers on this topic
That is ridiculous
You are not alone....most freepers are perfect too
Boy.....when i look at this joint sometimes afte 15 years....fighting the battles as opinions and policies shift here
And wonder if we are truly the vanguard of conservatism and liberty
And see threads like this one and the MLK worship thread
Its depressing
>> What’s idiotic about felons having voting rights ?
Post-sentence? Nothing.
Cruz, Lee, and Rand co-sponsored a bill (or agenda) regarding prison reform.
What’s the point of paying one’s dues if not to have rights restored???
And let’s not forget, we’re talking about man’s law, not God’s law.
I say full rights after incarceration.
>> One can never fully repay his/her debt to society
You’re giving civil privileges greater value than it deserves.
Once the offender’s “debt” is paid, his obligation is remediated.
>> the MLK worship thread
Here on FR?
Oh, you must be a left over Loyalist. What is wrong with you? Hate Our US Constitution? Do ya, billyboy?
