Tayna Fogle sat just behind Sen. Rand Paul, nodding her head and listening as he pressed the case with Kentucky state senators to restore felon voting rights.

Holder calls for restoring ex-cons' voting rights
Rand Paul and Eric Holder... strange bedfellows, as they say...
More evidence Rand is an idiot, even if he is okay on some issues.
Its a state issue.
I haven't read the article, but if he's talking about prison inmates, I think he's nuts ... but a felon, time and dues paid and living a real life ... why not ?
I'M a felon.
And the law of averages identifies a fair number of FreepeRs as such.
I agree because the bar to become a felon is so low now that almost everyone is guilty.
and a PS ... restore gun rights also.
That’s the final straw for me.
I, for one, agree with this. If their debt to society has been repaid in full, then there’s no reason to further punish them. If it hasn’t been repaid then they should not be out of prison...
Once they served their time in prison, I don’t see why not. Why release ppl out of prison at all if the crime is not forgiven. Those in prison should not be allowed to vote though
Not really so strange. They’re both pro-amnesty too.
Enough to make one think they want to see more liberal voters.
He thinks this is the way to win “the hearts and minds” of minorities, which, in my book makes him totally delusional.
It won’t work and it insults minorities in addition.
I agree. Not a felon myself, but see no reason why felons should lose their vote after repaying their debt to society.
“Enough to make one think they want to see more liberal voters.”
It does make you wonder, doesn’t it... or maybe not.
Maybe Rand is only marginally smarter than his Father...
What’s idiotic about felons having voting rights ?

I feel that if an individual has served his full sentence then he is a free man and all of his rights should be restored (including voting rights). If you don’t trust him to carry a gun, be around children, poodles, etc. then why in heaven’s name is he being released? He should remain incarcerated.
Wikipaedia has a list of how this is handled in the various states.

PAUL'S A KOOK! PAUL'S OFF HIS MEDS!
No really, he is.
And Rand Paul has spoken out strongly in favor of obama as a "leader" and even had the gall to post his slobbering sentiments on his web site. I find Palin appealin' and Paul appallin'.
Why do you think Rand Paul is an idiot? If someone has paid their debt to society they are supposed to be able to resume a normal life. I think they should be allowed to vote after they are released from prison.
One can never fully repay his/her debt to society when one commits a serious criminal act.And yes,*all* felonies qualify as being serious enough to carry with them a lifelong penalty.
Apparently there was a vote in the Senate:
Gutting of felon voting rights bill angers backers
“The Senate passed a watered-down version of a bill to restore voting rights for some convicted felons on Wednesday, potentially dooming a measure that has garnered support from U.S. Sen. Rand Paul.
The changes which would cut the list of those eligible for restoration of rights and impose a strict five-year waiting period angered supporters of the original House Bill 70.
HB 70 would set the stage for allowing convicted felons to have their voting rights restored automatically once they complete their sentences. “
