The Obama Administrations Federal Communication Commission (FCC) is poised to place government monitors in newsrooms across the country in an absurdly draconian attempt to intimidate and control the media.
Before you dismiss this assertion as utterly preposterous (we all know how that turned out when the Tea Party complained that it was being targeted by the IRS), this bombshell of an accusation comes from an actual FCC Commissioner.
FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai reveals a brand new Obama Administration program that he fears could be used in pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories.
As Commissioner Pai explains in the Wall Street Journal:
Last May the FCC proposed an initiative to thrust the federal government into newsrooms across the country. With its "Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs," or CIN, the agency plans to send researchers to grill reporters, editors and station owners about how they decide which stories to run. A field test in Columbia, S.C., is scheduled to begin this spring.
The purpose of the CIN, according to the FCC, is to ferret out information from television and radio broadcasters about "the process by which stories are selected" and how often stations cover "critical information needs," along with "perceived station bias" and "perceived responsiveness to underserved populations."
In fact, the FCC is now expanding the bounds of regulatory powers to include newspapers, which it has absolutely no authority over, in its new government monitoring program.

I don’t know, but everyone will know you meant Mike Lee.
I did.
This surprises me. The way the news gets reported I thought that there already were obamatrons in the news rooms.
Amen to all you stated here Marcella, I will stand tall with you.
If there is a belief that ‘fear’ will take over vs anger, I believe they have miscalculated.
More proof that liberals do NOT believe in freedom of speech or of the press.
I just want to know at what point do the American people rise up and say “enough”. Or will they (we)?
“You are being watched. The government has a machine....”
Over the decades this system has been put into place. Unfortunately, someone got elected who is now abusing it and using it to retain power and to make his power absolute. The “builders” of the system never planned on this happening and now there is no way to stop it. It’s almost impossible to impeach a president. It’s completely impossible to impeach a machine.
Even Bill Eee-go-reilly said last night that we’re being watched. But he doesn’t go far enough. He thinks we’re only being watched outside our home. If you’ve got a cell phone, a TV or a computer, you’re being watched.
I haven’t been to an airport in a few years. I stopped flying when I finally got enough of their gestapo crap. When I was flying I never saw a TV that wasn’t on CNN. Has that changed?
I have to admit that if it hits the fan everyone will know who the target is. It’s the guy standing around with his arms folded seeming to do nothing.
There’s an election on the horizon. They want to make sure all the dirt (some of it made up) is reported on republicans that are a threat and only good news on democrats.
“...Marxist/facist Stalinist bastard!...”
Nah, come on now... he’s just a good, old-fashioned “loyal opposition Democrat”, remember? They’ve been telling us for YEARS that they’re not communists!
And after all, no American would EVER do THAT....
(I’ll include the “/sarc” tag...)
Outraged? They've been told there will be free WI-FI and Starbucks in the new Amerika. That's all they care about.
If we traded O'Bunghole for [pick any third-world Marxist dictator], who'd notice any difference in what oozes from the White House?
The speed might increase. But, the substance would remain the same.
Why, indeed?
If the republicans had any courage they call a press conference and every republican would announce impeachment listing everything he has done to deserve impeachment, including this assault on freedom of the press. Grant you many in the media don’t care, but there are surely many who sees what is happening and are scared.
According to a recently publicized study, 1/4 of Americans don’t know the earth revolves around the sun. It’s no wonder they think we are dummies.
