Dwayne Stovall regrets he didnt start talking about turtle soup earlier.
Stovall is a Tea Party conservative running for Senate in Texass Republican primary against incumbent John Cornyn as well as Rep. Steve Stockman. Stovall brags about his grassroots campaign with 1100 volunteers and his track record in straw polls but he wasnt registering nationally until last week when a quirky campaign ad went viral.
-snip-
Stovall told The Daily Beast that he never planned to release that ad, I was not going to do that, not my style. He was filming other television spots in January and his campaign manager and the producer wanted to do the turtle soup spot. Eventually, Stovall acquiesced to filming it but insisted it would never see the light of day.
Then, after Cornyn and McConnell provided the pivotal votes for cloture to end debate on raising the debt ceiling last week, Stovall changed his mind, it had a visceral effect on me . . I was so mad about it . . .and just said release [the video].
Stovall seemed somewhat disappointed that it took the video to get him national attention instead of his ongoing concerns about the national debt. In his opinion, we are enslaving ourselves with of this debt. Theres an elite class of political people and they create our debt, expand size and scope of government and encroach on our freedoms everyday.

Smart doggie there. Good ad.
Mitchie does look like that Duck and Cover Turtle!

Mmmm, I gots to get me some of that soup! LOL
Voted for Stovall today. Turnout very light. As a bonus, voted against Jorge P. Bush.
Cornyn should be primaried out. Period!
/johnny
Yeah, but he looks like Duke, the Bush’s Baked Beans dog. Do we really need another candidate related -no matter how peripherally- to anything named Bush?
Light turnout today. Does that fit with previous early voting? Are you in a
large populated county or one of the smaller ones? I’ve been looking for some
turnout indicators but don’t find anything on the net as of yet.
Take care.
One of the more entertaining political ads I have seen.
He might have a potential franchise with the ‘turtle’ and ‘turtle soup’ mantra.
“Turtle Soup”!!?
I think Mitch McConnell just got “labeled”. Tea Partiers waving cans of turtle soup wherever he goes. This will go viral.
Kind of like 1980 when Teddy the Swimmer nearly stole the nomination from Jimmah Carter. One reason he backed off was Young Republicans’ promise to line his motorcade route with counterdemonstrators wearing Scuba masks.
Otherwise, based in part on a previous video, I admire Mr. Stovall because I think that he is familiar with Congress's constitutonal Article I, Section 8-limited powers, and will try to work within the limits of those powers.
On the other hand ...
While Mr. Stovall seems to be familiar with Section 8, I don't think that he is necessarily familiar with the nuances of Congress's limited power evidenced by the following excerpt from Gibbon's v. Ogden.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
But I also think that Stovall will be receptive to patriots who help him get up to speed with such nuances.

This hearty Turtlr soup has a real “snappy” flavor from the cayenne pepper and lemon juice. It’s a treat and good use of turtle meat. With a salad and fresh bread, a steaming bowlful makes a nice meal.
Not that YouTube’s counters are accurate, but since when does 20,000 hits equal “viral”?
Viral would be “Demon Sheep” or even Herman Cain’s smoking man ad.
“I wish that conservatives would lose the ad hominem attacks. “
Except that Mitch McConnell does look like a cartoon turtle.
Go back tomorrow and give him another flourish.
