In an abrupt switch from his months of work to bring immigration reform back from life support, Speaker John Boehner told reporters today that the issue cannot move forward until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written.
There's widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws. And it's going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes, Boehner said.
The change in tack comes after rank-and-file members pushed hard against action on the issue this year when immigration principles were unveiled at a retreat last week and top immigration hawks had begun to discuss how they could thwart Boehner in his march to bring the issue to the floor

The Speaker wants it. Prominent Republicrats want it. Industry and lobbyists have promised big rewards.
The DNC wants it because it will be a massive power shift in the electorate that will heavily favor them.
Who’s on the side of who? Is this inevitable with the current power brokers?

Don't worry, they'll push it through at an emergency

Oh, then we have nothing to worry about! Boner is going to wait until "...President Odungo proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written..."
And just exactly when has this lying pile of steaming brown stuff proven to be a "trustworthy partner"? Not any time I've heard about.

There's widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws. After five years of dealing with a habitual liar, Boehner has just figured this out?

I'm not one to advocate vionlence. Don't think it accomplishes much. Can't the power brokers in the US, across the political spectrum, understand the mess we're in? If the population in the US isn't stabilized, our national identity isn't re-established, and the underclass isn't put back to work, it won't take much for the US to ignite.

Even though BO will eventually be gone, he isn't anything more than a tool of the bottom-feeding scumbags working to transform America into just another turd world fiefdom. There is no shortage of willing and useful idiots willing to take his place. Bonehead cannot make this about BO, because BO is only the latest tool.
The last Democrat president with even a scintilla of trust died in Dallas more than a half century ago.

In this case at least, I don't think it's a matter of Boehnor not having guts. He himself wants this-amnesty. His big money backers want the cheap labor, so he wants this. He's just playing for time to get re-elected then ram it through. No one needs to wait to see if Hussein can be trusted, it's already clear that he can't be. He (Hussein) has already made it plain that he will use his "pen and phone" to do what he wants.

None of them is on the side of normal taxpaying americans; you know, the people they are supposed to represent.
If there is a AmRev2 every one of them need to be out and never again allowed to run for even public outhouse mucker much less ever vote again. They are the loyalists of our time.

The answer to your question is contained in the question.

Amnesty for illegal aliens was probably the single biggest reason for the GOP debacles in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles.
The issue on its own is troublesome enough, but I'm convinced that the GOP lost those elections because a huge chunk of middle-class American voters stayed home out of disgust for a Federal government that pisses away thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars on idiotic wars halfway around the world ... while it is hell-bent on allowing millions of foreign invaders to pour through our borders here at home.
