Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-Ky.) are now in position to end the Tea Partys death grip on the Republican Partys political future.
Last week, Boehner and McConnell faced down the Tea Partys threat to cripple the government when they supported raising the nations debt ceiling. That move prevented GOP political suicide.
If the nations credit rating, stocks and the recovery went down the sewer because of Republicans refusal to raise the debt ceiling, the GOPs chances in the midterm elections would have been severely damaged.
Having successfully defied the Tea Party on the debt ceiling, now it is time for Boehner and McConnell to use that momentum to pass three bills: An extension of unemployment benefits for people suffering long-term joblessness; a minimum wage hike; and, most important of all, immigration reform.
The Tea Party caucus in the House and the Tea Party star in the Senate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) are never going to love Boehner or McConnell. Both Congressional leaders have tried for years to accommodate Tea Party passions but they can never do enough.
By standing up to the Tea Party now, the GOP congressional leadership can create a legacy. They may suffer attacks from right-wing talk radio. But they will go into history as the team that made it possible for future Republicans to win elections with the support of some working class and Hispanic voters.

So how are they going to do that, Juan, when the TEA Party comprises their base voters?
Juan has become more of a bleeding heart leftist since 2012. I wouldn’t listen to a damn thing he says. This only reflects badly on McConnell and the shame caucus. We should us Juan in ads against them.
Shut up, Juan. Just shut the **** up!!!
The imbeciles in the GOP-E will take this to heart. Funny how the dems wants to destroy the Tea Party and the GOP-E are their lackeys.
Juan Williams is as useful as teats on a boar. Roger Ailes is wasting his money, paying “contributors” such as Williams, Whorealdo, and Beckel for their tired Leftist drivel.
We don’t watch Fox as much as we used to.
Juan is the purveyor of the talking point de jour.
He is projecting the leftist wacko fear
Tea party on the run from the liberal republicans.....LOL! The Pubbies have been running from the tea parties!
Juan's advice to the GOP :Become Democrats.
Where would Juan be if his hotline fax machine from the White House broke?
They need to stand up to the communist fringe that has taken over their party. If they will stand up and reject the radial leftist agenda being pushed by extremists like Nancy Pelosi and embrace a moderate agenda which includes passing a constitutional amendment outlawing abortion, lowering tax rates, and impeaching President Obama they might have a chance to create a legacy. They may suffer attacks from left wing news outlets hosted by sodomites. But they will go into history as the team that made it possible for future Democrats to win elections with the support of some working class white and evangelical voters.
sadly...Bonehead will take his advice
Juan Williams is the George Costanza of political pundits. Whatever Juan says, the correct course for Republicans is the exact opposite.
What a leftist liar. Twisting and distorting reality to create an illusion of what he wants to see the liberal way - 1 truth to 3 part lies (minimum), stir, spin, and the idiots will believe it without understanding the context or history.
Juan Williams (to the RIGHT of most on FOX) wants
Americans to “eat dog food” to help his undocumented
corrupt Master, the Union thugs in the IRS, and the DNC.
The Tea Party gets in the way of his dream
(a nightmare for the American people as they are slowly
learning).
Juan, The Tea Party will keep the GOP at bay.
Individual candidates are receiving more direct contributions, while the GOP fundraising languishes.
And THAT is as it should be.
America has been compromising with the devil for too long.
It is past time to move back in the RIGHT direction.
I'd say the jury is still out on that.
You think so, little buddy, you think so.
“Roger Ailes is wasting his money, paying contributors such as Williams, Whorealdo, and Beckel...”
RA is smarter that that. IMO he is just trying to show liberal idiocy at its finest.
