Letter upsets city's Black History Month
Black History Month in Baltimore is a busy, busy time. Every aspect of black life in this city is remembered and celebrated: Black schools. Black music. Black movies. Black churches. Black literature. Black clothing. Black politicians. Even black trains.
Then Tracey Halvorsen had to go and spoil it all: She wrote an article about crime in Baltimore. How she and her mostly white neighbors live in fear. And no one seems to care. Or worse, lots of people think it is normal. Baltimore City,You Are Breaking My Heart, is going viral for an on-line magazine called Medium.com. A few quotes:
Im tired of being looked at like prey.
Im tired of thinking about the horrifying final moments for 51 year old neighbor, Kim Leto, stabbed to death in her own home by two teenagers.
Im tired of wondering why city leaders havent said s*** about recent horrific murders committed by children in supposedly safe neighborhoods.
Im tired of living next to a beautiful park that Im scared to walk into at any time of day, thanks to regular stories of day-time muggings, drug dealing and gang violence.

“Welcome to the United States.”
Yup. Even sports teams who have never, other than maybe the color of their shoes, have worn black are putting black in their uniform colors. The bill of baseball caps are black on caps of teams who have no black on their uniform colors. Teams wearing all black when black was never a part of their team colors. And of course a big bunch of all the major black sports players, have . . . . .
I am so close to giving up, it makes me ill just thinking about it.
Its a clever way to take over parts of the country.
Be not afraid of any man, no matter what his size.
When danger threatens, call on me, and I will equalize.
Theis is a saying that used to be on the trigger guard of Colt revolvers.
Frontier women were pretty good shots.
I know exactly how she feels.
I don’t go out at night
Same thing with the culture clash. The coarser culture will rub off on the more refined one, but not the other way around.
In the United States today, Black racism is more prevalent than white racism. It emanates from the White House, flows through the Department of Justice, and reaches the Democratic mayors of every big city in the United States.
Under this president, victim-hood is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and seemingly eternal. Obama has set back race relations for a generation.
Tracey it appears that it is time for you to move to a new state, new town, new neighborhood where you can feel safe and secure. Time to lead a normal life where you can go to the park, go shopping, go to a restaurant and feel safe. Many places down South. Come on down and leave Baltimore to the thugs and gangs.
where is safe for Tracy?
Yep.
It’s the height of non-political correctness to say so, but I’ve never experienced the kind of aggressive harassment from white men as I have from blacks. That’s the simple truth.
I once turned down a black guy’s advances, and he got up in my face and said, “What’s the matter? You don’t like the black meat?”
Northern Idaho.
Goodness. Pimps his own book right in the middle of the “news article” itself.
330,000 WHITE Union military knowingly went to their deaths to free the African slaves during the Civil War, they followed the directives and emancipation orders of their government, a government they elected. I have never heard an establishment, professional, progressive/ African-American ever recognize, much less thank these dead men for their sacrifices, nor recognize the 260,000 White Union military who were wounded and/or grievously disabled, nor the widows, nor the children, nor the families of the military who also suffered.
Obama chose to not attend the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s address at Gettysburg. To do so would be an unavoidable exposure of the distortion of the Progressive/Liberal history that the main reason for the war was to save the Union. It would also of the show the neglect of the African Americans debt to Whites regarding the recognition of these sacrifices.
...........Arlington Cemetery is about all American Wars...., Gettysburg is about freeing the Black Slave...... PERIOD... and as far as I am concerned that is why THE OBAMA avoided Gettysburg. PERIOD.
Buddy and I were discussing how the weather seemed pretty bad around here and Russia was like Spring, for the Winter Olympics.
I casually commented to him that Russia was looking better everyday - compared to the BS we were being subjected to..
We are really becoming (if we already hadn’t) a nation of Wussies when the Govs of MD & VA declare a state of emergency the DAY BEFORE a snow storm is/was predicted. This after 4 false alarms this year.
I seem to remember that if it snowed 4-6 inches at night WE might get the next day off from school but since schools were in town and the teachers could afford to live in the town they worked in, chances are pretty good that school would be open with maybe an asterisk by your name if you missed - BUT even the School Bus routes were the primary plow targets.
6-10 inches of snow were an inconvenience.
Back then (in NY State (Southern Tier)) you may not see pavement in parking lots for a few weeks if not months...
Around here today, if there is an inch of snow they are plowing it....
Always figured if you could plow snow at 45-50 MPH, it really didn’t need plowing.
yeah I was a hostess at a swanky restaurant and a waiter who happened to be black asked me for a date and when I said no, he said “you don’t like me because I am black?”
Why would this person ask me on a date? I had no clue even what his whole name was, we had never talked, I had no insight into who he was, casual hook ups were not my style, I have always been afraid of men, I was in law school, who was he, didn’t know anything about him that would make me think he was compatible with me, what is in this turkey’s mind?
I fix that a bit farther into the past. I say Obastard has set race relations back to Reconstruction. His followers are demanding reparations, that's post Civil War stuff.
