‘Craigslist slasher’ boasts: I killed many, many more (“Less than 100”)

SUNBURY, Pa. — I’ve only murdered bad people — dozens of them — accused Craigslist thrill killer Miranda Barbour said in a jailhouse interview Friday.

“When I hit 22 [murders], I stopped counting,” the teen terror said, claiming she began her killing spree as a 12-year-old runaway caught up in a Satanic cult in her home state of Alaska — and just kept on killing.

“It was never random,” she said. “When I found out they were bad people, they don’t need to be here anymore.”

Took over some female staffer’s desk to look busy.

Let’s see...

1. Molested by relative as a child. Check!

2. Influenced by satanic cult. Check!

3. Played violent computer games. Oops! They forgot something and should have a talk with her about that.

Per a more detailed local article, undoubtedly the uncredited source for this one, she says she will reverse that plea to Guilty.

“I feel it is time to get all of this out,” she said. “I don’t care if people believe me. I just want to get it out.”

While in the satanic cult, Miranda became pregnant. The cult did not want her to have the baby, so, she said, members tied her to a bed, gave her drugs and she had an “in-house abortion.”

However, her mother on Saturday said that when Miranda told her about the abortion, she took her daughter to a doctor who said there were no signs of an ended pregnancy.

Bad people? Why didn’t she kill herself (of course I really don’t want anyone to die by murder or suicide), but didn’t this arrogant hard hearted teen actually think to look in the mirror, especially after the first “kill”?

I live in Alaska. It’s the world’s biggest small town. (For instance, one of my former students in a nearby village posted a photo this woman’s boyfriend, practically screaming that they were friends for a while. I believe him.)

Having said that....

Most of the slayings took place here? Sure, 20-plus killings might be a spit in a bucket in Chicago, but it would surely be noticed up here. The poor young woman kidnapped at the coffee stop last year in Anchorage was on the news every night for weeks trying to look for her, and the killer. Folks do disappear here, but suspicious disappearances spike interest. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s inflating things out of proportion just for kicks.

In any case... prayers for the families of the missing people, and even prayers for this poor lost soul. God help her.

Whether true or false, the “I was a high-ranking satanist official” bell can’t be un-rung, as they say, as far as the people in the potential jury pool are concerned.

Trying to guess at this point what her defense will be, and how her own documented sexual abuse will be a part of that defense is a fool’s errand IMO, conjecture on top of speculation.

The hollywood producers are probably climbing over each other to get the movie rights to this one!!

I think I can already hear the stampede of the cloven hooves of Nancy Grace and Jane Velez-Mitchell and their minions all the way out here in Silicon Valley.

What if she didn’t label herself as a satanist and was just some girl killing child predators?

Better question is; how many concessions will we make to those who work outside the law and how far are we willing to let those concessions go? I hear people that believe in the Constitution saying that it is OK to bend it a bit if the cause/outcome is good, but I fail to find a "Just Cause" clause in the Constitution. Either we strive to be a nation of laws or we decide that "we don't need no stinking laws".

My inner self says to go ahead and kill someone doing something really bad - it's natural to want to do it. The part of me that wants us to return to a Constitutional mode tells me we need to go through the process.

I agree with you 100%. I live just eleven miles from North pole . If that many people were missing, it would be noticed.

There are always missing persons here, but most of them are found at a cousin's house or something and didn't know they were missing.
