As much as 14 inches of snow could hit New York City and the surrounding area tonight, as the storm that has gridlocked the Southeast comes north.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Tom Kines says the snow will begin to fall around midnight and last through most of Thursday. The latest National Weather Service forecast map shows that the city will likely get between 10 and 14 inches, depending on whether precipitation changes over to rain during the day.
People in New Jersey and Long island will be much luckier, Kines said. He expects they'll receive just a few inches.

New flash - it’s winter!
Surely they could survive on their stash of Skittles hidden under their mattresses.
If you say so, although 84 degrees does make winter a whole lot nicer. I really feel for people that live in something colder than the freezer in my kitchen.
God Loveya, EinNYC— my previous comment had nothing to do with what you’re going through.
“A full-blown Communist mayor and his commie minions.”
YOU’RE the babysitter for the absent “parents”.
Stay safe, stay SANE.
Those of us that are NOT teachers have NO idea what you go through daily.
May be God is angry at Northeast liberals for pushing MAN MADE global warming.
Yes it is, dang it, and SoCal will be a chilly 79 degrees tomorrow. I might have to wear a sweater.
Do your own due diligence.
Look at the Radar.

NJ and LI are bookends to Manhattan for this storm.
Also, the one in Minne right now is what is going to hit Chi/Mil/Det tomorrow and then (maybe) NYC-area.
So tha mayor dictates that children must go to school, not for education but for food.
When will tha mayor dictate to the Sanitation workers to pick up the garbage which has not been picked up in two weeks? Is he waiting for the snow to cover it?
The garbage is taking up the space on the sidewalks when snow would be shoveled. This is going to be a fine mess.
Oh wait, maybe he intends not to have certain areas plowed again.
NYC on the verge of victimization...again.
Well this FReeper replyed back: Ritz Crackers and Peanut Butter, really?
Just goes to show that even among FReepers there are jusr some people who just LOVE being a victim!

I remember reading your list a couple of weeks ago. It made sense. ...I would also toss in a few cans of SPAM and tuna, along with some plastic utensils. Like the crackers and PB, the SPAM and tuna should be rotated out each season.
Judging by the pureness of the snow, photo had to have originated from UPstate New York. New York City snow is grey bordering on black.
“touche”
$$$$$$$$$$ talks....
What morons......
“Just proving that the NYC schools system is just a big babysitting service and place for illegals to hang out.”
It is worse than that; if the teachers’ unions have to work 180 days per year, it will count as a day if 1% of the kids show up. Teachers are angry because their vacation plans are at risk.
I would suggest escaping from that hell hole and moving to a state like Texas that would appreciate your talents and dedication.
See #35; at the end of this they’ll proclaim they worked 180 days, while the average child attended 150...
DeBlasio is giving every indication that he is an idiot as well as a communist.
What is the point of a state of emergency if you keep the schools open? Esp. in NYC which really has a big school population. Sure, most of the kids probably walk to school, but not the teachers.
I saw this on FB before, posted by a guy from NJ, that’s how stupid DeBlasio is, even people who live hundreds of miles from NY realize it!
It’s really coming down here now, we are about 40 miles (as the crow flies) from NYC and it looks like it’s going to snow all day.
Like they couldn’t go one day without a hot meal.
Is this the dem voting base, adults so impaired they can’t heat a can of soup for their children?
They’d like us all to be just like that folks, just remember that.
One only wonders........ why do you live there?
It is a big wonderful world beyond the provence of NYC
