A few months ago, Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa sat down with Wendy Davis to talk about strategy for her 2014 gubernatorial run.
We told her, You cannot win unless we take it to a different level, Hinojosa said.
Its a message that Fort Bend Democrats are hearing as well.
I think we can turn Fort Bend County blue and the best way is with a lot of green, Congressman Al Green told the sold out crowd at the annual Noche Azul fundraising event at Sweetwater Country Club on January 24.
With changing demographics, a divided national Republican party and a public weary of gridlock in Washington, keynote speaker Congressmen Joaquin Castro of San Antonio, told the audience that the tide is changing in Fort Bend County.
Republicans in Texas are getting more and more extreme, Castro said. Nihilism is masquerading as conservatism and we need to root it out.
Castro spoke about building an infrastructure of opportunity that allows all Americans to succeed. He specifically called for improvements to education, re-authorizing the Voting Rights Act, raising the minimum wage and immigration reform.
Ted Cruz tells the story about his father fleeing Cuba and finding a home in the U.S, Castro said. And he says the reason people come to the U.S. is because were a country of low taxes and low regulation. Of all the immigrants I have ever met, no one has ever told me that they were coming to America because of the low tax rate.
Castro urged the audience to block walk, utilize social media and get involved in the November election that has two Democratic women vying for governor and Lieutenant Governor, and one that will set the stage for 2016.
On election night, well be watching Fox News and Bret Baier will be sitting next to Karl Rove and hell say,Karl we have breaking news. For the first time ever, the state of Texas has gone blue and our next president of the United States is Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Congressman Al Green said he would never give up on comprehensive health care for all Americans and vowed to fight any steps backward from health care to wealth care.
In a country where we can pay a CEO $400 every second, surely we can find away to make health care affordable and accessible for all Americans, Green said.
Texas Democrats are also excited about their aggressive vote-by-mail campaign that allows seniors, the disabled, Texans traveling abroad and those in jail to receive a ballot for all elections in 2014 without showing voter identification.
A perfect example of what excessive drug use will do to the brain.
Ah yes. Democrats and vote fraud. Go together like diapers and shit.
It worked for LBJ!
Possible slogan:
“Because one Detroit is not enough!”
” - - - Texas Democrats are also excited about their aggressive vote-by-mail campaign that allows seniors, the disabled, Texans traveling abroad and those in jail to receive a ballot for all elections in 2014 without showing voter identification. - - - “
Looks like that makes all Texas Democrats in favor of election fraud.
Kennedy too!
“Go blue” IOW....”Dead”.
I think we can turn Fort Bend County blue and the best way is with a lot of green,
Good luck! They already are down 3 to 1 in money and it isn’t going to get any better!
Nihilism - That's a big word for a small man. Liberals / Progressives are the real nihilists, but most of them don't even understand the concept, let alone the word.
I spent some time there 5 or so years ago- Fort Bent Co. is very close to, or even part of Louie Gohmert’s district.
Texas Democrats don’t know how voting by mail is documented in Texas. As for people in jail, only those not convicted may vote by mail. A person wanting to vote by mail, has to send in an application for a ballot and it has to be signed and a reason given for voting by mail. That reason must be a reason given in the law and, if it isn’t, it is not valid. If it is not signed, it is not valid and if there is enough time left, a new ballot will be sent to the voter.
Voting by mail is the most difficult way to vote. There are multiple blanks that must be filled out that accompany the ballot. If one of those required blanks is not filled in, the ballot is rejected. If the ballot paperwork is not signed, it is rejected. The signature is compared to the signature on the application, and if they are not the same, the ballot is rejected If someone helps the voter and the helper does not sign and print their name, and put their address on there, the ballot is rejected.
If a person in a nursing home helps more than ONE person fill out a ballot, all ballots with that person as a helper, are rejected.
I was the judge of the Early Voting Ballot Board for ten years and taught other Republican county workers how to properly follow the law when evaluating ballots by mail.
The vast majority of Democrats do not know the law.
We told her, You cannot win unless we take it to a different level
No wonder Wendy is flopping around like a fish out of water, if that's the sort of 'professional' advice she's getting.
Blue is Conservative. Red is Communist.
Buttwipe Today, errr, I mean USA Today caused the color reverse didn’t they?
This pea brain is using the word nihilist to describe those who are against big government. This Castro punk being a socialist at heart
Investigations should be done no matter who wins. The DNC are crooked bastards.
The Orwellian newspeak “flip” occurred on Election Night 2000. However, our side didn’t have to accept it. Does anyone realize how ridiculous Conservatives look talking about wanting to flip states “red” ? I certainly do.
“For the first time ever Texas is blue”? Does this idiot not remember LBJ?
You shoulda been there for the speech, especially when Castro talked about the Germans bombing Pearl Bailey.
