Former Federal Energy Official Says April Attack On San Jose PG&E Substation Was Terrorism

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — The former head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission believes the attack on a PG&E substation in South San Jose last spring was not an act of vandalism, but instead a terrorist attack. In April of last year, someone shot numerous rounds that damaged equipment at the Metcalf Road substation and also severed underground fiber optic cables nearby. In an interview Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal, former FERC chief Jon Wellinghoff called the attack ”the most significant incident of domestic terrorism involving the grid that has ever occurred.” Wellinghoff told the newspaper he’s going public with his concerns because he believes national security is at risk and that thousands of electrical utility sites are poorly protected.

I heard about it and may have posted on it here on Free Republic

that we havent heard about the conclusion before now is BIT troublesome given how easy it was for many of us to determined what happened

vandals dont often strike at various types of targets at the same location..

doing so indicates this wasnt random hooliganism

severing fiber optic cables is SORT of indicative of real serious planning...

I heard about this on the radio on my way home this evening. The story at the link doesn't say, but what I heard on the radio was that there appeared to have been markers in the substation for the shooter or shooters to aim at.

Inside job? Disgruntled employee? Whatever the answer, it does not bode well for us and I also wonder why it didn't come out when it happened.

Why didn’t the story come out when it happened? It was for the same reason that the 0bama administration blamed deaths of four Americans in Benghazi on a video. It was an election year.

I heard about it, as did many Freepers. The MSM called it simple vandalism.

The real question is, "Why is the MSM picking it up NOW?"

BTW: The Wall Street Journal has an excellent article on this today. The rest of the media coverage may be because of the Wall Street Journal article. Which still begs the question, WHY REPORT IT NOW?
