It's over: Jeb Bush will be the GOP nominee in 2016
The Week ^ | 02/05/14 | Damon Linker

Democracy is starting to get me down.

Oh, I know what you're thinking: I write regularly about American politics, and democracy is only just starting to get me down?

Okay, good point. Maybe I should say that democracy is starting to get me down even more than it usually does.

And why is that? Because it's beginning to dawn on me that Jeb Bush is probably going to be the Republican Party's nominee for president in 2016.

Consider: With the ongoing implosion of Chris Christie's political career, the GOP establishment has lost its best hope for a candidate who could stop a libertarian-populist insurgency during the primaries. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Scott Walker — the list of viable fire-breathers is longer (and less dominated by incompetents, crazies, and one-note sideshow acts) than establishment types would like.

What are the alternatives?

So I’d see that outcome as:

45 - Hillary
30 - Bush
25 - Tea

I think you are correct!

Perot part deux

Exactly. I will crawl over broken glass to vote against Hillary for anyone who has a chance of winning. I did that for Mitt and I would do that for Jeb or even Christie who I really don’t like. Look what has happened to this country with Obama because of the people who are so purist that they stay home. Shame on all of you.

Incredibly ironic if Hill wins that way.
I guess it would make “Clintonian plurality” a legendary term.

If it’s Hillary vs. NJFatboy and there’s no Tea Party candidate, I’m writing in Putin!

If patriots can get their acts together for the 2014 and 2016 elections and elect a 2/3 conservative majority to both Houses of Congress by 2016, then Congress will be positioned as follows and it won’t matter which Democrat or RINO is elected president.

Congress will have the power, under the Constitution’s Clause 2 of Section 7 of Article I, to override presidential vetoes. This means that Congress will be able to repeal Democratcare (great election year name for Obamacare; thanks freeper Mark) without needing the president’s signature.

Shame on the GOPe if they ignore our very vocal warning and give us someone we can’t vote for.

You’ve got to get your head straight about who’s to blame.

Well then, we get another Democrat.

Yes we will. We better get used to Bill Clinton as the first man, because it is coming, and Marxism will reign supreme. Hillary might treat her enemies worse than the Obungler. It might be out of the frying pan, into the fire.

In 2006, everybody thought the idea that McCain would be the next nominee was BS.

I've thought since the 2008 election that Jeb was destined to be crowned the next President of the United States, regardless of what popped up between then and the 2016 or 2020 elections.

The Left loves to pick our candidate, don't they?

BTW, I am not holding my nose for any treacherous RINO going forward, and that includes all down-ticket races.

Many other conservatives share my thoughts. We are simply too far down the road.
