Democracy is starting to get me down.
Oh, I know what you're thinking: I write regularly about American politics, and democracy is only just starting to get me down?
Okay, good point. Maybe I should say that democracy is starting to get me down even more than it usually does.
And why is that? Because it's beginning to dawn on me that Jeb Bush is probably going to be the Republican Party's nominee for president in 2016.
Consider: With the ongoing implosion of Chris Christie's political career, the GOP establishment has lost its best hope for a candidate who could stop a libertarian-populist insurgency during the primaries. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Scott Walker the list of viable fire-breathers is longer (and less dominated by incompetents, crazies, and one-note sideshow acts) than establishment types would like.
What are the alternatives?

Does anyone else see a pattern?
Im hoping Yellowstone goes boom first
They way I see it, sometimes doing the right thing means choosing the lesser of two evils, because doing nothing is the same as choosing the greater. Government itself is a lesser of two evils, and we can’t pretend that there is such a thing as a “perfect solution”. We find the best one possible and that’s all we can do.
Jeb Bush would be the perfect nominee.
Plus #1: He would lose so badly that the Republican Party would be destroyed. Good riddance.
Plus #2: He would be so awful a pick that the door would open to a 3rd party candidate. Ted Cruz? Sarah Palin?
In a three way race a Cruz/Palin or Palin/Cruz ticket would have a VERY good chance of winning.
So... Go ahead GOPe! Make my day!
I would vote, but I would write in the name of a conservative candidate (Cruz or Palin). I will not cast another vote for a RINO loser. If Hillary wins because the GOP and RNC cannot take the pulse of the heartland of America (conservatism), it’s on them.
“Are there any other Bush relatives in that family that can run in later years? I’m hoping it all doesn’t end with Jeb.”
Not to worry, George P. Bush is running for Texas Land Commissioner now. Goody for you, another generation of Bush. :o)
:^)
FALSE PRETENSE again, by the way. NO ONE is looking for a perfect solution. MANY PEOPLE are accusing others of looking for a perfect solution.
After Jeb, comes George P. They’re not done with screwing-up America, by a long shot. That is, IF we survive the last 3 years of 0bummer&Co hell-on-earth.
I think you are CORRECT.
And why is that? 'Cuz they know conservatives would rather stay home and let the Dems take over the government than see a Repub they don't like win the Presidency.
If I was a Dem, I'd want Jeb or Christie or practically any other RINO. As long as the Repubs keep running their version of Dem-lite, they will lose.
Stay out da bushes !
“Are there any other Bush relatives in that family that can run in later years?”
I think Jeb’s son is in the queue.
Oh please.
No more political family Dynasties.
No more de-facto hereditary political royalty.
It is un-American and a throwback to the kind of government our Founders disdained.
No more Clintons, Bushes, Gores, Kennedys or any other relatives in federal and state office.
Holding office or a high level political job is becoming de-facto hereditary in local, state and national government.
Parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and spouses pave the way for their relatives to more or less inherit government positions.
Hollywood families that are now into their second and third generations of screen actors, we have political families who show a sense of entitlement to govern us because of their family history in politics.
Enough of it!
Same here. I cast my last RINO vote for Romney.
I don’t vote for RINOs. Especially NWO types.
I don’t vote for RINOs. Especially NWO types.
Bush/Cheney Chick 2016? Not bad, not bad! Deja View all over agin!
Not a single vote, let alone twice.
