New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will not be marching in the nations largest St. Patricks Day parade, deciding to skip one of his citys signature celebrations because the event organizers refuse to let participants carry pro-gay signs.
De Blasio will become the first mayor in decades to sit out the traditional march along Fifth Avenue.
I will be participating in a number of other events to honor the Irish heritage of this city, said de Blasio on Tuesday during an unrelated press conference at City Hall. But I simply disagree with the organizers of that parade.

This native New Yawker really despises De POSio.
As an ItaloAmerican, whose father was an FDNY fireman, I am dismayed that DePOSio decided to take the Italian surname of his mother.
No big loss-—the parade will go on just fine without the big leftist lunkhead.
I’m similar to you—ex NY’er of Italian heritage. Wilhelm is a faux ethnic paisano. We don’t force our Italian banners to be displayed on St Pats Day and the Irish respect ours as well. The real problems with militant gays is they don’t respect or honor others boundaries. They host plenty of Gay Pride parades of their own. I salute the organizers of the St. Pats parade-—scrooge militant gays and their Wilhelms supporters.
Tolerance is a one way street for these fascists.
What if the pro-like/pro-traditional folks march in the St. Pat’s parade instead?
Win-win, IMO.
That’s “pro-LIFE”.
Geez.......
He will be missed. Commie prick.
Speaking of communists, is Castro dead yet?

Loved your comment. Thanks for the laugh!
One of his predecessors (David Dinkins, I believe) tried to cancel the parade (by refusing to issue a parade permit) as a way to enforce compliance with the Homosexual Reich in New York City.
Someone at the time did some legal research and learned something remarkable: Because the parade had been held on an annual basis for more than a certain number of years (50 or 100, I believe), the parade's organizers weren't even required by law to get any permission at all from the city government to hold the event.
See #31. That will not happen, and I’m sure he’s already looked into it.
wow. I like the last part.
This guy will try anything to lift up HIS people.
de Blasio’s background is not Irish...
de Blasio is his mother’s name...her parents were Italian immigrants..
His real name was William Wilhelm Junior and his father also named William Wilhelm had German ancestors...
but what mayor of NYC regardless of ancestors wouldn’t be involved in the St Paddy’s Day parade...
why its not American !!!
"We'll take the fruits and the bull dykes but we don't want the Irish!"
You can be sure he and his flunkies in the legal department are working hard on it.
I think the parade got the better part of that deal.
“When that happens the Irish Christians that organize it will no longer do so and that great parade as we know it will end.”
I believe when this first arose years ago the pipe bands simply weren’t going to show up if the city didn’t support the Ancient Order of Hibernians (the holders of the permit). Guess the city saw no point in having a St. Patrick’s Day parade that looked more like a Caribbean Day parade...
Indeed. If anything, it will be an improvement without him.
The sponsor of the parade is the Hibernians, a Catholic group. Their policy is not to exclude homosexuals from marching. Rather, since they are Catholics, they don’t want to promote a behavior that they view as wrong. The Supreme Court upheld this as a First Amendment issue. Unfortunately, activists treat their sexuality not as a behavior but as something that’s part of their essence (a concept which has no basis in science). There’s an irony to all this, since DeBlasio’s wife used to be a lesbian.
