[history]
A portrait of Anne Frank at the memorial of Central Europe's first Holocaust museum in Budapest on January 27, 2014.
Shortly before she and her family went into hiding, Anne Frank gave some of her toys to a friend for safekeeping -- a tin of marbles, a tea set and a book.

The annex in Amsterdam is my favorite museum there - and there are great museums there.

I went there too. It was very moving. Hard to believe it really wasn’t all that long ago.

Very moving. I felt I should whisper while in the annex. What hit especially hard was seeing the small pictures of Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret thumb tacked to the wall in the tiny bedroom that Anne shared with her sister. Heartbreaking.

For those that don't know about her, here's the biography of a brave woman, Miep Gies. She helped hide the Frank family, and she's the one who found and saved Anne's diary. The world owes her a lot.

I know you meant no harm, but if I were you I'd ask an administrator to delete your post #2. It is inappropriate, and disrespectful to the subject matter of the original post.

Note to self: Before making fun of someone’s marbles, make sure they didn’t die in the holocaust. Sorry y’all. I had it removed.

BUMP for later reading. Thank you!
Have you read, ‘In My Hands’ by Irene Guut Opddyke (I may have the spelling wrong...) She, too, was a fighter against the Nazis and saved many Jews. One of my heroes.

Don’t beat yourself up. I didn’t see what you posted (freepmail me) but the title triggered my black humor bone, too.
There is a whole humor genre around Helen Keller, and this is about the same.
You (and hopefully I) are forgiven.

I must beg forgiveness of everyone on the thread, and I just learned what the offensive post was, and found it to be one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time. Black humor doesn’t work unless it’s really BLACK.
