EPA's Wood-Burning Stove Ban Has Chilling Consequences For Many Rural People

The impacts of EPA’s ruling will affect many families. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2011 survey statistics, 2.4 million American housing units (12 percent of all homes) burned wood as their primary heating fuel, compared with 7 percent that depended upon fuel oil.

Local governments in some states have gone even further than EPA, not only banning the sale of noncompliant stoves, but even their use as fireplaces. As a result, owners face fines for infractions. Puget Sound, Washington is one such location. Montréal, Canada proposes to eliminate all fireplaces within its city limits.

Only weeks after EPA enacted its new stove rules, attorneys general of seven states sued the agency to crack down on wood-burning water heaters as well. The lawsuit was filed by Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont, all predominately Democrat states. Claiming that EPA’s new regulations didn’t go far enough to decrease particle pollution levels, the plaintiffs cited agency estimates that outdoor wood boilers will produce more than 20 percent of wood-burning emissions by 2017. A related suit was filed by the environmental group Earth Justice.

The industry should fight this regulation. It is a perfect spot to stand your ground. I believe in choosing fights carefully to get the most political support. To do that requires accurate information, not some vague and incorrect story about the EPA "banning woodstoves".

OTOH, the headline gets attention so that's ok. But the story has to follow up with the correct facts.

This reminds me when I was unfortunate enough to live in New York city, Bloomberg banned motorized scooters in accordance with the Al Gore global warming/climate change scam. Then when people started riding electric scooters instead he banned those as well. So I came to the conclusion, these leftist/RINO pukes are banning things simply because they can. No rhyme or reason to it, they just get off banning things because they love playing fascist.

They should should they Mr. Palmer? These companies have the money to take on mamoth corrupt gov and their agents in the EPA?

Like fighting corrupt government when it comes to immigration issues?

Have people not been screaming, protesting, demanding, voting and protest for relief from this government sponsored invasion for decades now?

Who's got the endless deep pockets in the wood stove industry to fight D.C. and their army of corrupt lawyers and lobbyist Mr. palmer?

You haven’t proposed an alternative and since you have not, I will give you mine. Start a movement to pledge to buy a stove from a company that resists the regime. Make it personal and public.

If I have a "non-compliant" stove (heating my house), and the EPA wants to confiscate it, fine. The only caveat is that they heat my house in a more efficient way that THEY provide, and pay for. Then everything is cool (except for the tax payers).

If not, then all bets are off.

secondhand tobacco smoke in a closed car can expose a person to 3,000-4,000 micrograms of particulates per cubic meter.

I wonder how many particulates the choom gang took in during "roof hits" to say nothing of the methane from the flatus.http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3117195/posts

A) they are not going to knock on your door and B) if they did decide to do that, you would quickly be dead and your family would be stoveless. The best way to fight stupid tyrants is to politely point out how stupid they are in public.

Nice try Mr. palmer, but the story is not about me or what I would do.

I'm just telling you the facts.

Start a movement to pledge to buy a stove

Good grief!

Spot on! Just like you can’t smoke any where because of “second hand smoke”. Then someone events a “cigarette” that only emits vapor, and they want those banned as well. Why? CONTROL!

I'm just telling you the facts.

Your fact: #1 you don't like the proposed regs because they will lead to job losses. That is true. Your "fact" #2 is that they won't stop there. Possible although politically stupid. But those are just facts or alleged facts and not proposed actions.

My preference is to fight the regulations, first through comments, and then reevaluate if they keep them.

When I say comments, I would like to see thousands of public comments against these proposed regs in the upcoming months.

Good way to audited. We are in quite a mess. I am not going to claim to be smart enough to lead a revolution. But, I am waiting for whoever is to get on with it already!

“Except they didn’t do that because they are going after new wood stoves from manufacturers. They aren’t regulating existing stoves, nor fireplaces, nor any new fireplaces being installed.”

What part of the EPA regulating people without warrant, based on no real scientific facts, is it that you don’t understand? How can you be so dense as to miss the point here? The EPA, infested with envirowhackos, is ruining our American way of life incremental step by step.

Going up against the Nazi's running the EPA and their army of high powered deep pocket bureaucrats, lobbyist and their wealthy corrupt bosses in D.C.?

That's Pie in the sky Disney movie action....Good luck with that..

If you don't have millions to line their pockets, or bankroll their campaigns, they don't give a damn about your opinion or position. The do what the hell they want.
