This is what turning a working country into a Socialist country leads to.
After his annual address to parliament last month, Maduro declared 2014 the year of the ultimate triumph in the economic war, announced a new team of economic managers and decreed a law capping business profits at 30 percent.
You can be sure we will be inspecting everyone, sooner or later, Maduro warned, part of the New Economic Order he vows to create.

Soon word spread that the long-awaited rolls had arrived, and despite a government-imposed limit of one package per person, the checkout lines stretched all the way to the decimated dairy case in the back of the store.
This is so depressing, said Maria Plaza, 30, a lawyer, an hour and a half into her wait. Pathetic.
Pathetic, in a country with the worlds largest petroleum reserves and oil prices at nearly $95 a barrel, yet unable to supply basic goods because of its crumbling local currency and a shortage of U.S. dollars.
Soon well be using newspaper, just like they do in Cuba! said an elderly man nearby, inching forward in line. Yeah! Like Cuba! others shouted.

Toilet paper ... those evil capitalist Koch Brothers make it by the boat load.
Venezuela is a place where the money falls apart in your hands but you can't tear the toilet paper.
Back in 1980 I was flying a helicopter in support of a UN bird control operation in Tanzania. Before I departed Nairobi to fly the helo to Tanzania I was asked by the two British ornithologists to please bring light bulbs and toilet paper.
At that time, Tanzania was experiencing the heights of Julius Nyerere’s vision of “African Socialism”.
The people were rubbed the wrong way..
Don’t squeeze the charmin.
Toilet humor seems to be a mod target today.... upsetting.
Ping.
PLEASE ЯEFЯAIN FЯOM UPPEЯDECKING.
“Dont squeeze the charm in.”
Don’t charm the Squeezin!
They have shortages of EVERYTHING in Venezuela. It is endemic.
I read some blogs from down there.
It ain’t just toilet paper.
thanks
They have regular shortages of just about everything. Even basics and staples. There were even blogposts about shortages of, er, feminine hygiene products....
Stalin and Mao solved the shortages by dramatically reducing the number of people. If they could, Nancy and Barry would do the same.
And Chavez and his successor Maduro remain heros of the left in the blogosphere. Seriously. Put your hip waders on and check out DUmmies and KOStupids if anyone doubts me. /leftism is a mental illness
yes GeronL,
But it is a mighty important product ya just don’t care to do without.
History repeats itself. When Nicaragua ran out of toilet paper, that was when the little people finally turned against the Sandinista communists.
People who advocate and support Socialism refuse to understand how it can never be “sustainable”, and they cling to every hope until it utterly fails. That is what happened in Soviet Union (the Worker’s Paradise), that happened in Cambodia, even China under Mao, and now it is happening once again.
Look at what this evil ideology costs in terms of blood, treasure and wasted futures. Every time. FAIL. Utter FAIL.
This is so depressing, said Maria Plaza, 30, a lawyer, an hour and a half into her wait. Pathetic.
A lawyer waiting in line for an hour and a half to buy TP does kinda make you smile though.
That, and lining bird cages, is all most newpapers are worth anyway.
The poor puppy—he’s just trying to get a better view of his master.
I also recall how when my brother and his wife traveled back and forth toward the end of the regime, she would always carry extra feminine hygiene products to leave with her women friends.
Ah socialism . . .
