ABC Uses Children in 'Young Guns' Experiment to Demonize Firearms

“Tonight is not whether people should or should not own guns,” Sawyer insisted.

Right.

ABC’s Diane Sawyer and David Muir joined forces Friday night for their 20/20 special, Young Guns, traveling to neighborhoods in which guns are a presence in the home in their effort to characterize guns as threats to children, rather than tools of self-defense. As you’ll see, the producers’ anti-gun agenda was apparent from the start.

First, the journalists conducted a little experiment to discover the obvious: kids like playing with guns.

Didn't some "gun safety advocates" do this once before? Is this a rerun to push rights violations? Will the MAIGgots, "moms looking for a little action", gabby and mark puppet show, brady bunch, vpc and various other "gun safety advocates" use this video during the next legislative session? How about they substitute swimming pools? How about we (I know it's not fashionable) educate youngsters? What a concept huh? In case you haven't seen the booklet on "talking points" for the gun safety advocates" see this link:

LIttle Chuckie will likely end up a Knock-out Game losing contestant at the best, a dead fool on the ground at the worst.

If guns kill people, then mine are defective. Should I ask for my money back?

This story reminds me of an old saying. “Figures don’t lie but liars figure.” ABC is a pathetic excuse for a journalist enterprise as are most of the mainstream media.

Knives, guns and climbing trees. We made sure that our boys learned the proper use of knives early. We encouraged them to climb trees but never helped them and at first stood watch. When they started scouts we encouraged them to get their merit badges in use of rifle and shotgun. Our oldest achieved his junior NRA rating. We talked to them about gun safety. They knew that they could call home anytime and come home. One of our sons did call home when he did not like the movies that were being played at a sleep over. I’m sure he was teased later but hey. It’s all called parenting.

Statistically speaking it’s still riskier for your children’s safety to have a swimming pool in your backyard than a gun in your house. Where are the cries for pool control?

I think “they” just called for a ban on private swimming pools in Australia. What’s next, ya gotta be 18 to go in the ocean/lake/river/pond?

This is just a continuation of the government run media's attempt to convince the American parent that they are too busy, dumb or unqualified to raise their children, and that the Nanny State is the only one able to wade through the difficulties of everyday life.

And I think their doing a pretty good job of it, considering how gullible most people are.

ABC News Story Hides Guns in Candy in Classroom to Push Gun Control

by AWR Hawkins 28 Jan 2014

On January 27, ABC World News aired a segment on kids and guns in which they placed two unloaded handguns on a table and drew children to them by telling them there was candy where the weapons were.

Diane Sawyer introduced the video as part of a report on “groundbreaking news” based on a Yale University study on “American children and guns” that claims every hour one child in America ends up in the hospital as a result of gunshot wounds.

Sawyer’s co-host David Muir narrated an experiment at an elementary school in Florida where seven hidden cameras were set up in what appeared to be a first grade classroom. They showed the kids NRA Eddie Eagle videos on gun safety and had a policeman talk to them about avoiding guns.

They then placed two unloaded handguns on a table “and [told] the kids they [were] there for a memory test.” The teacher then told the kids she had to leave the classroom “for a second, but that there [was] candy on the table.” There were numerous toys and crayons on the table, as well.

After the teacher left the children alone in the room for approximately ten minutes, two of the kids who had migrated to the candy, crayons, and toys picked up one of the real handguns and looked at it from all angles.

The camera then panned back to Muir and Sawyer in the studio, and Muir suggested parents ask their neighbors if they have “a gun in the home” and “whether it’s locked, loaded, or put away.”

When I was a child I didn’t know a household that didn’t have at least one gun..

and in all those years no child was shot by their father’s gun..

One 16 year old boy was shot when he and friends were out shooting one day but that was carelessness on the other teenagers part and not due to his father owning a gun...

a group of high school boys were climbing through a fence one by one and the boy behind the injured boy had a loaded rifle..It discharged and got the boy in the back..

The boy was paralyzed and eventually lost his legs..

He was a lot older than I was but I remember him years later driving a car especially modified for him...he did everything with his hands...

He learnt the trade of boot repair and supported himself after his parents died...I don’t know if he received any government help but he was expected to work...

He was the only young person shot in our town except for the girl who was murdered ...

we all grew up with guns...and nobody took one to school...

Oh and it wasn’t a terrorist act to draw guns and tanks and planes shooting flaming death...

What is a work here with the children is: they have been warned about the dangerous nature of an inanimate object. To satiate their curiosity they intincively violate the rules laid out for them to see exactly what they are dealing with.

My children are well acquainted with all of my firearms. The have held them and “played” with them under my supervision. Then we went out and discharged each of them. That was the moment that they determined that they were in fact, not toys.

My children do not lust after my weapons, nor are they disposed to use them as toys. They understand exactly what they are and what they can do.

In this instance, the warning about what was to be done if they found such a thing was the incentive to investigate it for themselves.

I refuse to watch Diane Sawyer or ABC, NBC or CBS news so I missed it. Did they go to Chicago where the murder rate is disgusting despite some of the toughest gun laws in the country? Democrats create slummy welfare neighborhoods where gangs grow and the only way residents get what the working class gets is through violence. By dishing out the welfare checks for over 40 years Democrats have taught minorities to become pawns of the government rather than trying to work to get ahead. The smarts ones left the “hood” and did exactly that - got ahead. Diane should do a story on the results of decades of welfare and vote-buying by Democrat programs like the New Deal and Great Society.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I looks like ABC is just doing the bidding of their masters in Washington.
Isn't this exactly what state run and/or controlled media is supposed to do?
That s how it worked in the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. And seems to be working here.

LOL! I don’t watch those “news” outlets either but seem to remember reading about this “experiment” before. Oh well. A lot of the slummy welfare neighborhoods started out pretty nice but since nobody had to work for them the didn’t much care about them and the decay came quickly. A friend and co-worker grew up in one of the New Orleans housing project when they were first built. He said they were really nice in the beginning but his family made their way out as the decay set in and destroyed them. (the projects that is)

Dana Loesch of the Blaze TV has a good response.

“The overwhelming majority of young gun deaths come from gangs.” This the typical way that the gun grabbers continue to lie by lumping in gang members up to age 20 in the “child death” stats.

Some of those “child” stats go to 24 years old or even older.

IS this one of studies that said kids were 25 year old?
Would love to see a break down on race and whether it was crime related.
There are lies, damn lies and statistic's/
