With trains, you have large groups of people in an easily containable area, where they're susceptible to either a terrorist attack, or unconstitutional search and seizures.

With cars, you have freedom to go wherever you want whenever you want. THIS is why leftist Regressives keep wanting to send us back to the 19th Century.

I have applied for jobs everywhere that is not liberal. I will not move to California, New York, Massachusetts, etc. I wonder how many others have decided not to move to these slave-states? Let’s not mention those who leave them. Eventually, they’ll all resemble Detroit. Or, as my friends who used to work at a company based there call it, DeToilet. (That company is collapsing at the speed of sound, BTW.)

Man made Climate Change is totally debunked by the Big Island of Hawaii.

With its growing population, this island maintains its distinctive ecosystems despite daily volcanic eruptions containing CO2 and other “greenhouse” gases. One Can drive from the rainforest to tropical grasslands, to Alpine Snow in an afternoon.

Meanwhile, the vast windfarm on South Point lies abandoned and rusting, while the wind blown vanes kill endangered Hawaiian Birds.

If you would like more information about Oregon, please FReepmail me. I lost my Oregon list when my computer crashed last month.

I like to argue that individual vehicles are a form of mass transit. After all, that’s how the masses move themselves about in many places. The statists and envirowhackos object to cars because they provide too much autonomy to the serfs, and supposedly pollute the environment more than trains and buses.

Here in Tigard Oregon they have decided the way to solve 21st century transportation issues are with 19th century trains.
It's one thing go on a fantrip and ride the old NYC subway cars, the IRT "Low-V's", BMT Standards, or the classic R-1's that ran under 8th Av, the original A Train immortalized in song, or on a 100 year old restored Erie-Lackawanna train from Hoboken to Pt. Jervis, NY. Or to go to places like the Branford Trolley Museum near New Haven, CT or the old Strasburg RR in the Dutch Country in PA. Interesting to see what travel was like back then. On a nice sunny spring or fall day that is. Riding those old trains on a daily basis in all kinds of weather in real world conditions? It's one thing that makes you realize the "good old days" were not always good.

"The real reason they want a massive boondoggle like the train infrastructure is to launder some tax dollars for their corporate friends and paybacks to the unions."

That pretty much sums all this nonsense up. Just follow the money. In California, there is a massive teacher pension shortfall. Yet Brown, and his corporate and union friends are pushing hard for the 65 BILLION train to no place of any importance.

We want to sing the man who holds the steering wheel, whose ideal stem pierces the Earth, itself launched on the circuit of its orbit.(Filippo Marinetti, Manifesto of Futurism 1909)

Marinetti had it right. The automobile means individual freedom. Sometimes it takes a poet to see the significance of a technological change.
